Brooks Koepka Nike Putter

Really liked Koepka and his game. Shame to see him (and Finau) get suckered in to the Nike money.

Β

Yeah it's a real shame they went into a stable with arguably the greatest player ever and the current world #1,2 or 3 depending on what week it is, among others. It must be just the money because all their athletes are hacks with their clubs...

Β

You don't think the money has anything to do with it? Keep in mind that they weren't hacks with their previous equipment either, so if the move wasn't to improve their game, why switch if not for the money?

I also don't think Rory has been the same player as he was before switching - especially putting. I don't think Tiger was as good a putter either after the switch.

With the money Nike's throwing around to these players I can't say that I wouldn't be tempted if I were in their shoes. All I said was, it was a shame to see (to me). You can view it however you wish.

Β

With that said, I saw Koepka's new putter today and I thought it was pretty sweet. Kept waiting for a close up of the insert but never really got one. Looks like the Nike grooves are gone and almost looks like a TeI3 type of insert (like his Scotty had).

Anyone have any additional info?

I saw this as well and was inable to get a screen shot. It is definitely not an Origin. During the broadcast (before the later holes) I thought he had gone back to his Scotty. On 17 they showed a great shot of the face. Definitely has an insert but not your standard Method Matter insert (I could be wrong there). Hope we can get some pictures tomorrow!!

Caught a good glimpse of his putter today while watching the tv. The head shape is definitely close to the picture below of what was posted on the previous page. The short amount of time that they showed the face, it looked to me like a dark red insert. Broadcasters even made a comment that he liked the new insert. And he had what I thought was a black out cameron pistolero for a grip. Looked like dancing cameron letters on it.

Love the tungsten slugs in the back. Wish getting something like that done was more accessible. Looks sweet

This putt didn't show a good ball logo. Couldn't tell if it was an RZN.

Here was the camera shot on his putt on #18. No signs of tungsten plugs and appears a Nike ball.

The picture above is Patrick Rodger's putter. Same basic head shape as Brooks but Patrick's is weighted to be a counter balance type set up with heavy counter weight grip.

Weird, I was watching and I could've sworn it looked like the matter insert when I saw it (grooves and all).

I saw the same thing, looked like a Method Matter insert but the red grooves were much darker.

After digging around a little more, it looks like this is the same model the Patrick Rodgers uses too. But PR has a counterbalance version with tungsten plugs and a counterflex grip.

Β

Brooks version is pretty cool though. No face milling, hand softened bumpers/shoulders/neck/top-line/toe. Now if I could just find a way to get Nike to make me one with no sight-line... hmmmm

Β

Β

Here are some pic's of Patrick's version for comparison:

Am i the only one that notices in the first pic that the Method Lines are just painted on? No inserts or method cut outs, you can tell how the milling continues.

Β

Compare how the Swoosh is stamped in vs where the cut outs should be.

Long been discussed going back to pre-RORS release. Oven actually mills post groove installment. How they do this without pulling out chunks of rzn I don't know. That's why the patterns are visible.

In theory I get what you are saying and am not trying to argue the production method.

Β

However, if you look at the wear patterns of the Patrick Rodgers putter the "RZN" is wearing off and on any Method putter that's not really possible. Compare the stamp to the cut-outs.

Β

Maybe I'm wrong and that's ok with me. Just something I have never noticed before.
