Custom Hand Grind MIURA wedges by JOE KWOK

Here a couple examples I just did for:

1. Better than average golfer.
2. Trap your ball on your wedge play. Medium divot taker.
3. Medium bounce with plenty of versatility to create any shots.
4. Know how to use your bounce to trap the ball with an open face set up and drop it soft on the green.
5. Medium to soft turf condition.

As you can see ( 2 heads pictures ) I reshape the toe and leading edge shape to what i think is better and more appealing shape look. Top line will look thinner at address due to how I angled and reshape them ( visual trick line ).

Other than that, "GO AHEAD AND BE CREATIVE ON YOUR SHOTS".

BTW, this exact wedge are SOLD already...Thanks D! :)

ps: Tons of room on this custom hand grind program to do anything you want and need. Just tell me and do fitting with me, so I can help/quote you the right grind and pricing.

Cheers!

Joe

what lofts do these come in?

I can make it from 50* all the way to 62*. Certain loft will be a bit more off set than others due to bending, but it will be minimal...because I will manage to grind those off set look become less. Again very minimal.

The marking are 1 strip, 2 strips or 3 strips below MIURA logo...they means #1, #2 and #3 in Kanji letter. they are pretty much for GW, SW and LW.

Hi Joe,

Those look fantastic - another job well done! I can start another thread if you think the following is better placed in another forum but...

When doing a custom set like this, do you feel that the grind should be similar for both your lower and higher lofted wedge - in say a 52 and 58 combo? I always had good luck with a lower lofted SW with a reasonable amount of bounce to get the ball out of the sand and heavy rough, but I liked using a LW with less bounce. A few other wedge wizards have steered me away from this - with limited success on the newer high bounce LW - and your beautiful wedges rekindled my curiousity about how much you variation you recomend within a wedge set.

Cheers!

You've just answered your own question :)

It's a subjective. It's all depends on lots of factors on how you play your wedges. The key issue is getting a perfect bounce angle but yet depends also on how consistent you produce your swing ( at least we start from here ). Understanding Theory is not always reflect on how the actual practical side of it. So the more inconsistent your swing is the less critical on making the grind and bounce to perfect spot. Lots of players out there over look their equipments but forget that they still need to swing the club to put it in the hole. Nothing wrong having an fancy expensive equipments, But it's wrong if it doesn't fit their swing and skill level.

IMHGO, Every players has to have at least 2 sets of wedges in their trunk at all time if they are that anal about playing the right bounce and grind for every condition courses. Lots of those touring pro has even more equipment that you can think of when they go out on the tourney.

However i must mention here...grinding a wedge to look good is one thing, but to grind that looks good and works is another different ball game IMO.

Joe

Steve,

I can guarantee you if you look this wedges with your bare eyes, you'll not gonna be able to hold yourself. LOL!

Wow, beautiful work Joe.....as always. Too bad you're not out in Illinois, we could use a guy like you. Nice wedges.

Get me an investor and I'll train anybody to open one near by you. ;)

I'm in Fresno Ca. and don't have anyone with this kind of knowledge. I've been reading all of the posts about Miura, Scratch etc. I know this equipment is better than stock OEM gear. But, if I'm going to buy hi-end gear I need to be able to spend time with the guy who is going to prepair my gear.

I'm a low handicap player that rely on my wedges, those (Miura) look freakin' awesome! How much for a 56* and a 60*? I've really enjoyed the Rifle shafts, would they be a good choice for the Miura wedges?

It's all depends on how difficult of a grind you need. It would be best If you can come in person and discuss everything to get the right grind and quotation.

how much weight do you need to add back in the shaft to get the proper swingweight?

I'm not sure I understand your question here and I'm not sure if you know or not that this custom hand grind heads were originally came around 320-325 grams, so I can pin point it as close as possible during grind to your desire lenght and swing weight. In this case from the pictures above, I have the ability also to reshape the head look from the face possition.

Email me to [email protected] your spec or detail on how you play your wedge. Also Let me know what are you playing now, etc.

Then We can set up a phone fitting or consultation for me to be able to quote you correctly after I know how difficult of a grind you need on these wedges.

Price may start from $299 each. I will personally hand grind them myself and build them blueprinted to your requested spec include stamping initials.

That sounds great...where are you located in the Bay Area. I'm about 2 hours south of that area. I'm playing the Olympic Club in a few weeks, maybe I could come by during that visit? Do I need to set an appointment, do you have a retail location? Thanks, Greg
