Yamaha irons

Hey guys,

So that day I was testing out my mate's friend's irons. It was a Yamaha set. It felt so good. As good as my Epon irons. I am currently looking for a back up set of iron and plan to get Yamaha but have no prior knowledge of it. I hv forgotten to ask which model is it and hv no contact with him.

I don't really care about the year made. Could go back all the way to 2012 or so but which is the best feeling and forgiving Yamaha iron heads out there?

As its my second set, I would like something very forgiving and forged. Would appreciate any feedbacka.

Cheers

I love my 2012 non Tourmodel Yam's.

You'll get various opinions on which model year is best.

The pre-2013? (before they added RMX to the name) were Endo forged.

Tourmodel versions were made in limited quantities so they are more coveted, but less forgiving.

Epic Speed 9* (VeloCore Blue 6S))

SIM2 Ti 15* (Tour AD BB 6SR)

Apex UW 17* (stock HZRDUS Smoke Black 70 5.5)

0311XP Gen3 4-PW (Accra 90i S)

RTX ZipCore 52* Mid (DG Tour Issue)

SM9 58-10S (DG)

HiToe 64* (HiRev 2.0)
Eleven CS

Any urethane “X” ball

I had read some great reviews and was very impressed with the looks of the 2012 Inpres X V forged Tour Model irons back in 2012-2013. They were a limited issue set and beyond my reach in 2013.

Low and behold i was able to find a set on the bay listed by a Golfwrxer in Dec 2015.

They were in nice shape and priced very fair.

Come on spring !!!

V Forged series are players clubs & for better ball strikers (Tourmodel is "Tour" version of these)

D Forged series is for mid cappers (GI)

Z Cavity is for high cappers (SGI)

I'm a 15 and an average ball striker. Have not hit either the D or Z, but the Non-Tour V is fine for me.

Generally speaking, I've played GI rental clubs on vacation and my scores aren't any lower so I stick to players CB's.

I believe all the non-Tourmodel irons are made in China since 2014, if that matters to you.

Mine is Yamaha X Z cavity 2013. Awesome sticks. Because Yamaha is designed for Japanese Domestic Market, the handgrip is small size. I suggest to try several Yamaha models before buying, there are few models available in the market: V forged, D forged, RMX , Z cavity, and classic.

Yamaha Classic is the most favorite irons in use at my golf course, The players are 40 years old and above. Very recommended for seniors and beginners.

I just bought some 2012 Yamaha Inpres X V Forged Tour models [after drooling over them in 2013} and had them delivered to my USA parcel service.

Today was the day i picked them up.

They did not disappoint, low offset, wide sole for a tour model, decent amount of bounce, [digger] thick muscle cavity, milled face.

I'm really pumped, hope these hit as good as they look. I would post some pics if i new how to do that. Damn old school brain. lol

Great to hear that you have got them now. I'm sure they will not disappoint when you hit them as well. I would be interested to hear how they turn out.

To post pics you can first load them as a file to your computer. Then when doing a normal post click on more reply options next to post. Then click on load pics or files, it will allow you to select a file and you can then add your pic from where you have it stored. When it is loaded click on add to post and it will appear when you post your reply.

That's one of the great things about living in Australia. Potentially you can play golf 365 days a year. Yea baby!!

I always wanted to visit Australia as a young man, but never did. My sister moved to Sydney and married an Aussie. I can remember phoning there on christmas day when it was -35 C here and plus 35 C there, and wishing i had moved there. I do remember them moving north of Sydney and having a 2 hr each way commute, housing was expensive and day to day bills seemed high. I joked that with her nursing and his banking job that they could move home and live like kings. They said no way to cold, well a few yrs later they are living here and doing well. The golf 365 sounds pretty good vs our 165 golfing days. Damn i should have moved. lol

Yes Sydney is expensive. Highest house prices in the country. There are a lot of places cheaper to live and lots of courses too. Traditionally we have clubs with established memberships in all areas and cost wise you can be a member of a pretty good course for a reasonable amount. It is not an elitist sport here.

We therefore play in a lot of club comps, under R&A rules and our rounds are logged for handicapping by a national body. It's a good system and we play competitive golf by the rule book in a monitored pace of play. So it is not just the weather. We have great courses and a club system with uniform handicapping that is great for becoming an established club player.
