Mocks in warm weather

It took a few years, but I think I'm finally jumping on the mock bandwagon.

I was looking at those high tech Nike shirts for hot weather, and was wondering from those of you who wear mocks...doesn't the collar make it hotter VS. an open collar polo in really warm weather?

Just curious.

I don't think it makes it hotter. Here in Arkansas, it gets upwards to 95 - 105 with a boat load of humidity around August and September.

I have two of the Greg Norman Dri Fit style mocks and one of the Nike. I like the Nike better because it feels more like a jersey and breathes better than the Normans.

I like the mocks because it feels more like playing in a tee shirt. Plus whenever I wear a collared Polo style shirt, I always wear an undershirt no matter what the temperature is.

I bought my Norman shirts from Golfsmith for around $35 each and the Nike from John Daly's golf shop in Russellville, Arkansas for $40. In the last Golfsmith catalog, they had some RAM brand SS mocks for $10. Not sure how those breathe.

Like most anything else, depending on what you want to pay will depend on how good the shirt is. The higher priced shirts that I have seen have been a little better made than the lesser.

I would recommend the Nike line, especially if you play in the South.

Ive had no problems in hot weather. I wear the long sleeve mocks from nike in the heat, I cant risk the cancer/sunburn issue. Nike has the uv stuff in their fabric too. I live in San Diego where it get up to 100 occassionally. ;)

100 in San Diego? As nice as it is in San Diego, it should be against the law to complain about excessive heat! ;) Simp

I have a few Under Armour compression mocks and they get pretty hot in the summer. I think that all the compression fit stuff (tight fitting) is meant to keep in heat and disperse moisture so I wouldn't recommend them for warm weather use.

I bought 2 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve of those Rams. They've have this polyester webbing-type weave, but are otherwise very light. I haven't played in them yet, but wearing them around normally, they're not bad. I go with DriFIT above all else though but they were $40 and you can't say no to a $10 golf shirt ;)

unless your built like Tiger, jump off the bandwagon. it's a t-shirt for crying out loud. it looks horrible on fat guys w/ boobs and guts. horrible. guys are wearing it like it's the coolest thing ever, and it's the dumbest fashion trend ever. if you've got a gut, wear a sweater over that mock. or, hit the gym. don't believe me? ask your wife what you look like.

Hey, not all mock are created equal. If you've got extra meat on you, you don't need to be wearing Under Armour. Trust me I know. But it's a preference thing. You can always find an XL mock that can cover up almost anything. If you're 300 lbs or more, then I would agree with you.

I have a couple of there mocks, and I like them. I have the UV mocks and although they are good to block the UV rays they are pretty thick and can get hot. If you do get the UV go with a lighter color. I would recommend that for warm weather playing you wear the Nike sphere mock. It's more breathable than the Nike UV.
