MACHINE Prototype Double Fatback and Boatback

UPDATED 28 OCTOBER WITH NEW PICS!!!!
Hey Guys and Gals,

Just wanted to share these 2 pics with you. These are 2 models we have in the prototype stage right now. They are called the Double Fatback, and the Boatback.

On the Prototype #1 the bumpers are 100% hand ground and melted (in progress, but you get the idea). This prototype still needs counter and thru weight bores, more rolled and rounded radii in the cavity, etc. and lots more finish and polish.... This head is fitted with a custom Pill-Dot Cut long neck plumber hosel and a custom topline sightline cut.

This prototype Double FatBack flange is milled from 303 ss steel, and is great for heavy, long and belly putters (with weights from 400 grams to 500+), and can also be used without a hosel in double bend shafts. We will mill production models in aerospace alloy for standard length putters in the 330 – 370 gram range

Let me know what you think :)

-Chris

The whole putter in 1018 Carbon would weigh quite alot. You could do a Carbon head, Alloy Flange and either a Alloy or Carbon neck. Depending on which finish you went with on the Carbon, you could have a striking contrast.

As I said, these are still in the Prototype Stage. We are still tweaking them to get them to where we like.

Thanks for the comments

Two more great looking designs for Machine.

Are these prototype backs for the M2A, or completely separate putters?

If not, are there any new M2A backs being tested?

Hello,

These are 2 new backs that we have in the works. We have no new backs being demoed at this time

Thanks

I love the look of most of the putters I have seen from Machine, but personally i'm not sure what these are meant to be. If I want an Anser style, I don't think I would want one (because of the size at address). and if I want a high MOI heavy weighted putter I wouldn't like the shape or be wanting and Anser style over a mallet.

I can see the aesthetics of a TP mills design, through the Anser and on to the BC3 and bigger. But do putter companies get lots of requests for a putter looking like this?

Having said that they will probably sell well, and if you provide a choice thats a good thing. However I thought I would give an alternative view anyway :good:

Thanks Chris. I'm sure I'll be ordering the Tongue back flange since it felt do good on the demo, but I like to tinker and may get extra backs ;)

A Putter like this would be along the lines of a Belly/Long Putter. As you said, they are pretty large. The size allows for us to really raise the hewadweight to the 400-500 gram range.

As I said, this is still in the prototyping stage.

The flange-to-face ratio doesn't work for me but connect the shaft to the flange and I couldn't resist.

The aesthetics are always subjective, but I can promise you these putters are extremely functional. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us Chris.

Relocating the shaft to the flange doesn't improve my sense of it's aesthetics as the face-to-flange ratio remains the same... if anything, it probably degrades them. My comment reflected a design that works better with my stroke, along the lines of Cameron's original Futura and Slighter's Needle. Since Dave's Prototype lacks sufficient material at the proposed insertion point to hold the shaft, my comment was less a suggestion then an acknowledgement that his putters are so effective I couldn't resist getting a mid-shaft design if he made one.

BTW, I know his putters are extremely functional -I have a First Release similar to the one shown in my avatar.
