I would try the 130s or 125x. I play the x100. I have a few 6i heads I can donate to the cause as well.

I currently play the Modus 130 stiff but am really interested in trying out the 125 stiff. I've played primarily C-Taper stiff and PX 6.0 before I got into the Nippons last year. Love all the info you provide on here, Mark! Thanks!

 

Would really be interested in reading your thoughts on the 130 stiff. I'm a Ctaper and PX 6.0 guy. Would really like to see what the 130S is all about.

After reading through most of the mega Nippon thread, I'd love to try out one of the newer WV wedge shafts if you get your hands on some. I've loved the WV 105s that I've had but based on what you wrote, sounds like I'd like the new ones a bit more? I do recall one guy posting that he didn't see the same results and prefers the older ones, but your mention of the originals (like mine) being a little harsher caught my attention. If smoother exists, I want!

Cool. Is that the Modus3 Wedge 115? I just realized I said the newer WV but meant the newer version of the WV, the Modus3 Wedge.

 

Let me check if I have any extra wedge heads laying around. I think I have a 58* 588 somewhere.

Mark - Seriously this is AWESOME! You've provided so much intel on the Nippon shafts, specifically the Modus line in the past year or two and this is going above and beyond. Well played my man, well played indeed!

 

That being said, if y'all got a Modus125 stiff around you're looking to get some feedback on, I'm in for that one! I see Swiz posted above, maybe I can snag it after him?

Update, sorry for the delay guys. I bought some .355" ferrules online and they sent me .370". I just went to golfsmith and haggled my way into a few ferrules for now. Hehe. Should be shipping Wed.

Well I finally finished shafting up the demo 6 irons and took them to the range yesterday. I wasn't about to mail them out without hitting all of them first. They all spec'd out to std. length and D2-D3 swingweights. I decided to keep std. length and not go longer.

 

Results, for sure I'm playing the correct shaft in the 125X. 125S had a touch more spin than I wanted and climbed up and left a bit. Tour120 was what I remembered, kind of flatter trajectory, lower but a bit spinny. Tour120TX!? Wow, that was a shocker. Knocked off more spin than 120X for sure and the flatter trajectory, the ball just hung up there. All of them were about the same distance. The 125X has a nice mid-high soft flight with a controlled mini-draw to straight. 120TX once in a while I could feel myself hyper-extended my elbow so the weighting and timing of the kick was off. Definitely felt softer than 125X and kick was earlier feeling to me. Gonna try to get these suckers out today. Need 1 more iron length box, gonna go beg Golfsmith for a junk box at lunch! haha.

Also, I'm gonna try to play Torrey Pines this Friday so I'm going to reach out to Nippon to see if I can stop and grab some of those other shafts requested. Like 130S, 130X, 105S, 105X etc. Still hunting for some 6i heads if anyone has any connections and can help me out. I bought 6 heads so far for like avg. $15 each. With grips and shipping my wife is bugging me about giving away $125+ haha.

125S or 120X. I think 125S is probably the way to go. 120X is a short wait if you're willing to try both. (Means paying shipping twice.)
