Which stand bag?

Recommended Posts

I bought the new Ping Freestyle bag a few months back and I have to say its the worst bag I have ever owned. Growing up playing tons of junior golf I have always been partial to Ping bags and carried the hoofer for probably close to 6 years. All of the new Ping bags have full length club dividers that go down the inside of the bag but are not stitched to the side of the bag. So the clubs can push the dividers to the side and they are useless. The clubs are constantly getting tangled inside the bag, they never sit right and the dividers do nothing but make it worse. The Ping Freestyle is also very short so when it is placed on the ground the clubs are sticking way out from the top of the bag. Maybe I am just too picky but it bugs the crap out of me and it looks retarded. I love Ping but all they needed to do is spend 2 cents stitching those dividers all the way down and their new bags would be great. Instead they are annoying. Am I wrong about these bags?

Long story short, I am looking for a good looking, practical carry bag that isnt full of contraptions and looks like some hack bag. Any suggestions?

I am biased because I carry one but you need to check out OGIO. OGIO is a company that makes bags... period. You wouldn't think that there could be a company that just makes different kinds of bags, but they really go all out. They look at a certain sport or lifestyle and make the absolute best bags for it. Motocross, skateboarding, whatever, they do the research, find out exactly what their user needs, and then make the best bags. They looked at golf and came up with an absolute ton of innovations.

My Ozone is perfect for a dedicated carry bag, it has more goodies than I thought I could need and only weighs 4.3 lbs. If you want a simple bag that weighs less, they have those; if you want a bag that has every cool feature ever invented, they have those too.

My OGIO Ozone doesn't have 14 individual club dividers but I have never found a need for them, it keeps my clubs perfectly organized and I haven't had to fight with getting clubs in or out at all. Check their line out in the store.

I have seen them all over but never really took a good look at them. They tend to seem a little bit gimmicky but I'm down for whatever at this point. Thanks

I used to have an ogio, there great bags, but there just alittle to big for me, i just switched over to the sun mount 3.5 bag with "hip hug" technology, its great, lightest bag i have ever used and does a great job of keeping my clubs in place, everyonce in a while you have to give em alittle push into the bag but usually the clubs go in without a fight.

If you walk, try the 2008 Sun Mountain SL 3.5 or ZeroG (the velcro belt takes weight off your shoulders)

Excelllent bags -- with any liteweight bag, don't throw it around or use it much on a cart. Liteweight means they don't like a lot of twisting. Doesn't matter which brand. It may reduce their life.

If you also cart, find a cart bag without legs on closeout.

Ogio Edge ruleZzzzz :)

As the other poster says, why not buy the best from the best. Ogio makes one thing and one thing only - bags & bags and Bags.

If I want great wedges, I buy Scratch.

If I want great driver and woods, I buy Taylor Made

If I want great irons, I buy Mizuno or Miura

If I want the best putter, I buy a PROTO Bettinardi DASS

When it comes to bags, I buy the best and that's an Ogio - it's as simple as that :)

I actually purchased a bag today my hoofer vantage was ripping and with all the walking I do on the course it was tough to carry a heavy bag around. The x86 was a cool looking bag but you are really paying way too much for the Titleist logo. I chose the Sun Mountain that was smaller than the 3.5 superlite. It's pretty much a step up from a Sunday bag becuase it's a tad larger and actually has a stand and dual straps. The dividers keep the clubs close together but they still slide right in. The best part is when you pick the bag up, it is really really light. The guy at the shop said if you are looking for a full size carry bag the Superlite is the way to go. At Roger Dunn right now all the bags are 10 percent off!

Love my Sun Mountain Zero G!

I think the Zero G looks to be the best of all lite weight stand bags if you carry.

Hey BrandoMow,

I work for Golf Town up here in Canada I work shoes and bags. And I have got to say Pings bags are garbage, they always come back with broken legs or the ripped dividers. At the end of July I invested in a Nike Sasquatch, its got 14 full length dividers (the only stand bag I have seen with 14 dividers) , tons of space, and to boot a pocket thats a cooler! It can fit two bottles or four cans. I love this bag, its a little pricey at 199. 99 canadian, but I have seen them cheap on ebay.

Other bag brands that are great, good sellers, and amazing feed back are Ogio and Sun Mountain.
