Wearing watch while playing

Recommended Posts

I recently started trying to wear a watch on my left wrist while playing. I am right handing and have an issue with the watch rubbing my right forearm right around impact and into follow thru. Anyone else have this issue? I was thinking about a gps watch but there is no way I'd be able to keep it on.

I've been wearing a gps watch on my left wrist this season.... Most time I never realize it there. They are very lite and comfortable. I use the bushel neo model

I've tried wearing a watch in summer and it is just too hot and sweaty to be comfortable. The watch is now attached to my bag when playing, even in winter.

Can't comment on GPS watches since I don't own one.

The watch doesn't bother me with how it feels, just that around the impact position my forearms must be close enough together that the watch band actually rubs the opposite forearm and gets painful after about 10 swings. Will have a bright red spot the size of a half dollar.

I'm right handed and the GPS watch on my left wrist drove me crazy. I constantly felt it moving against the wrist end of my golf glove. Yes, I'm easily distracted.

Switched to my right wrist and it took a round or two to get used to it, but after that it was perfectly fine.

I'm confused. I wear a watch on my LH wrist when playing and have never had any issues with chafing or what have you.

If your forearm is bumping your watch, you need a new impact position. Yikes.

I wear an Apple Watch playing golf. The only thing bad about it is the face is too reflective. On sunny days the reflection when putting goes back and through as my hands do and it's distracting.

So I've had to start turning it toward my body while putting.

I've started wearing a Garmin Vivofit HR. It's so comfortable I don't even remember it's there or feel it.

I used to wear the garmin GPS watch, and I ended up just attaching it to my belt buckle... hated wearing something that big.

I have worn a Samsung Gear S (big smart watch) for 2 years and no issues, the band is soft and it fit just right, maybe you need to change the band on it and it may work better for you.

I tried wearing my Moto 360 during golf to take advantage of GPS on my wrist. Didn't really like it and I wear a watch pretty much all day and even in my sleep (hooray for vibrating alarms for us hard of hearing dudes). Bought a rangefinder and am much happier with it. Plus I don't like to be bothered while golfing so not having a smart watch or phone on me is really nice.

I had the same issue with rubbing I played with where on my wrist I put it, and I eventually either found a spot that was natural enough that I don't have to think about it or my brain told me "that s*** hurts, quit doing it!!!" And I listened. My gut says it was the former and not the latter. But, stranger things have happened.

I wear a Garmin S2 on Left Wrist and my Samsung Gear Fit on my right wrist and I have never had rubbing or such at any time. I am not sure how this could be happeing to you?

Only thing I can think of is your watch is either too low on your wrist (I tend to wear one notch loose and push it up my arm away from the glove) or your rotating wrists\arms just a tad before impact causing the rubbing? (Hackers guess)

I wear a Tag golf watch. The pin is on the opposite side (left), so no problems when swinging. Great everyday watch too.

I'm going to try it a little further up wrist. I do wear watches down closer to hand. And impact position is fine, I've gotten to a plus handicap and only enter competitive tournament rounds into my handicap. It is a heart rate monitor that I've had to start wearing, especially when walking or exercising.

Apologies I didn't look at your cap when replying (I keep forgetting it is there lol) and as said hackers opinion :)

If you are wearing low then I would agree it is that as I tend to wear it higher on the arm. You could fit your middle finger between then end of the glove and the watch with the way I wear it to give you and indication!

Unless your name is Gerry, and you're being paid to wear a near weightless £500k Richard Mille, wearing a watch whilst playing is a definite no no.

I have never not worn a watch while golfing. I think I would feel lost if it wasn't right there on my left wrist. The watch that has played every round with me for over twenty years? A Seiko Monster. She is no lightweight girl.........
