Miura CB 202

Just picked up a mint set of CB 202's for what I think is a good price.

I was wondering if those that had owned/hit them could give me an idea of what to expect.

Thanks in advance

Never hit 'em, but always loved the look of 'em.

Your in Texas, whats keeping you from hitting them? Don't have them in hand yet?

Please post a review after you have.

Yeah I don't have them in hand yet. They look like pretty standard players cb's so I have a basic idea of what to expect, I was just wondering if someone could expand on it

I play them in left handed.

They're pretty much what you'd expect. I think the "feel" doesn't just slap you in the face as the softest club you've ever hit, but it grows on you. I think they generate a sound and vibration that is almost two parts, compression and release, like the da-dunk of a good cannonball into the pool. Funny, I don't notice it too much in cool weather, but when the temps are just right they feel awesome especially with the right ball.

I was playing the Mizuno MP-60 and it was a very easy transition. They are very similar. Probably the shaft will make the big difference as the club head is quite neutral. I think the sole lends itself to a more picker swing as it's thin and the leading edge is sharp. I love the turf interaction when the ground is firm, but most of my misses have been due to inconsistency bottoming them out depending on turf. Enjoy them!

This is what I wanted to hear. I love my mizuno's but i really wish the leading edge was sharper

I still have my old Miura CB 201's. They are great clubs, very similar to the 202's, but with zero offset and the sharper leading edge and minimal bounce they were a little over my head , especially on softer courses.

I play CB 202s, and the thing I've noticed the most is the consistency in dispersion and distance control. I have a picker swing, and I'd agree they are well suited for that. I've found them to work well for me on both tight firm lies as well as the softer conditions here in the PNW. I'm also a high ball hitter, and I found that I hit these slightly lower and with less spin than the J40 DPCs I came from.

That's interesting. I'm actually the opposite so I wonder what that means. What shaft do you play?

Steelfiber i95R. These replaced the stock PX 6.0 shafts in the J40s, and I then had them pulled and put into the 202s when I got them.

The spin reduction was the biggest thing I noticed, especially playing in the wind at Bandon. The J40s would balloon in the wind, but the 202s had a much stronger and more piercing flight.

gotcha, mine have KBS Tours in them which is what I play in my Mizunos, but It wouldn't surprise me if they don't last long. Probably looking at ctaper lites

I have these in left handed as well (mixed cavity back/blade set) and I would say that the CB plays and feels like a blade. Very little offset, thin top line and thin sole. They have a very "dense" feel at impact, which to me is different that most other clubs. When you hit a good shot it feels both solid and soft. They suit my swing, and I tend to pick the ball as well. There is a new "Y" grind they offer, that seems to be probably a better fit for most golfers; it has a rounded leading edge, which is a little less likely to dig.

Good lord. Lot of leftys here. I am too! Currently have Mizzy mp-32's

There's a set on the bay for about a G. Should I go for it???

Mine were $350 nearly new 4-PW with Nippon Super Peening Orange shafts.

I'd say a grand is a bit high, if you're patient you'll find a better deal. If I were going to pay that close to full retail, I'd probably go get fit and buy new.

This is the ones i was looking at. Anyone know what model this is??

Left handed cavity: http://www.miuragolf.com/shop_leftcavities.asp

The design is very similar to the CB202: http://www.miuragolf.com/shop_cb202.asp

Give the LH Cavity is still shown in the site menu (but the 202 is not), perhaps they're still available new?

I have been playing the 202 for three seasons now. It took me 7 years of switching irons to find a set I truly love. These have been the best feeling irons I have ever owned. Definite improvement from the AP2's I had played prior to these. I have the steelfiber 110's in them.

My shot dispersion improved with these irons and distance was about the same. The turf interaction was my favorite part.

I am getting a new set of irons this year and I am worried about replacing these clubs. These have been my favorite set in my life so far. Had to explain the feel of them without drooling. Love is the only word. Loved the feel of these irons with the steelfibers. They were incredible to play.

You will thoroughly enjoy them in my opinion.
