if the #1 player in the world rejects the club, I would think titleist would be slightly concerned.....its not like tons of tour players use this club....dufner had some success with it so far, but the 714 model seems to be speiths go to club......I play the CB model right now and have for 4 years, but im thinking of changing to the Ap2's...

...all play the 716s. There might be more Titleist staffers but it's a pain opening up profiles on the iPad. http://www.titleist.com/tour/all-players?SearchTerm=&EquipmentType=clubs&Tour=PGA&OrderBy=rank&page=1

Nike didn't seem too upset when Rory was using his old Vapor Pros (and still is) over their new offerings.

The 716s will work just fine.

Given the Speith comment (turf interaction) about the 716 Ap2 model he elected not to play, do you anticipate any changes to the 716 Ap2 model? I wanted to get fit for the 716's due to the reviews on forgiveness, but since speith went back to the 714 AP2, I wonder if I should pursue this?

any thoughts?

Do you have the same swing as Speith? If not than you will be fine.

Having said that the the 714 are great sticks, as are the 712's an 710's. You could save some money and go with one of the older models.

Speith isn't a long player and with the lower COG on the 716's and the fact they produce a little more distance, I would think he would put these in his bag.....im just curious to know if he really didn't like them for some reason....the 714's seem to be considered the best of the last few models that have come out

The best player at my club gets new AP2s every time they come out. He recently told me the 710s were the best ones. You think Titleist will roll them back to the 710 design?

I am the 82 best player at my club and I like the 710's :swoon:

Joking aside I have owned the 712's and 714's. Great clubs but not better than my 710's. Of course clubs with 800 rounds on them have and advantage over the new kid in town. I also the guy that likes to keep my bag the same.

We will never know. No player is going to go on the record why they an older model club better than the current offering, particularly Speith.

He had an amazing year last year with the 714s. In general all the tour players have the same skill level its just how much confidence they have. Jordan has confidence and trust in his 714s and won multiple majors last year, he missed the cut first week with the 716s in the bag. I would have gone back to the clubs Ive had the most success with too. Im sure its not a lot about the performance its just that every golfer has there own preference and wants. In my opinion I would get fit for a new set of irons with the correct shaft. Find the right shaft and then have the fitter put that shaft in as many clubs possible and whatever one suits your eye or preforms best is the one I would get. I wouldn't not get the 716s just because Jordan doesn't play them if they preform the best for you is all I'm trying to say here.

im going to get fit for the 716's but before I do, I am going to jump on a trackman and compare them to my 712 Cb's ive been playing for the last 4 years.

if the numbers are significantly different, ill buy em.....if not, ill work on my short game more and try to pick up a few shots a side before spending 1200

I game Titleist gear for this exact reason. So much 714 vs 716. Should I upgrade my 910? Is there anything wrong with my SM5? They stick to a predictable product release cycle and make subtle changes (improvements) to their product. I spend my time golfing and not buying every new club (just most of them). I just bought 714 to replace my 710's at a third of the price of retail 716's. I think you will like all of them.
