The guys are better, since there's so many good ball strikers in the world, men need a good short game to make it to the highest level. For women, you can survive just being a great ball striker since that competition isn't as much

I agree but for slightly different reasons. LPGA course set ups are easier, so you see more gir in lpga than mens events, and the greens and surrounds are not as severe so even if they miss a green they don't need to be as precise with chipping than the men to get it close. The men need a super sharp short game to get up and down around the greens on the pga tour.

PGA - Seniors - LPGA

Womens shortgame, although getting better and better is not comparable to mens even with what i would say is much easier course set ups. Where it is a basic chip and run situation, they probably aren't that far off but when it comes to bunkers and technical pop up and stop stuff there is no comparison.... in general.

Add in the greens being slower.

When Sorenstam played Colonial, she was getting tips from Tiger, etc. how to play certain shots. If the Best Woman has to get tips from the men, well then, there's your answer.

And Greg Norman famously got tips from Seve.

Lots of players got tips from Seve, he was one of the greatest gilfers who ever lived. What's you point? That Normman was better than Seve so the sorrestam analogy is meaningless?

Not at all. Stricker helped Tiger, players help each other all the time. Has nothing to do with a women needing help that a guy would not. Read the post I replied to again and tell me I'm wrong.

I agree with what you are saying, I suppose if you took your comment to it's logical conclusion Tiger got lessons from Butch and Hank. I just think that that Loki was inferring that Sorrestam needed to learn to play a shot that she had never needed to learn until playing a pga course setup. Apologies for not explaining myself properly.

You are wrong. This is important however. When Sorenstam played the Colonial she was perhaps the best woman to have ever played the game. She barely missed the cut (only had one atempt). And the only reason to that she missed the cut was that the greens were set up differently than she were used to. She was not used to the speed, and that is why she asked Tiger. "Used to", is not the same thing as she didn't know how to. Just like someone who has never played US Open greens aren't used to that. In fact, she was in a big disadvantage here and if she would have had time to practice for the speed ets she probably would have easily made the cut. Some people say she would even have been in contention we won't know, but I think it's posible). Also, everyone was watching her those days with media coverage etc that she weren't used to at all from the LPGA tour, so she was actually playing much worse than she used to. In fact, I know a lot of stories from Parnevik and Sorenstam playing together where Sorenstam made some incredible things. Now, this is only one woman and perhaps the best there ever was, but from what I have seen and heard she'd be up there with the best men. If you look at any swing, of any era, gender or time she is top five and I don't think anyone on the PGA-tour today has a better one.

Lol. Wow this is up there with any post made by PLHR. Btw, we most certainly do know whether or not she would have been in contention, the MC kinda spells it out.

PGA by a landslide. LPGA may seem the obvious choice, but they cannot generate the super spin or power out of tough lies that the PGA boys can on a general level. PGA also face a level of difficulty in terms of courses and setups that are night and day tougher than LPGA/Champions.

Champions Tour guys will tell you themselves that you lose a lot of your touch, feel and nerves to hit the tougher short game shots at their age. The best players out there hit tons of fairways and greens.
