Version 3 Upgrade Now Available

Version 3 is now available and appears to address several key issues. I have to say that all the items on my wish list are addressed in this release. No voice command or scoring feature yet for those of you waiting on it.

After downloading and first running the program, it gave an error message about "no disk". I just clicked Continue a few times and the update went fine for me. The new version is 1.30.30.30.30

1) Option to disable the auto standby feature; unit can now stay on all the time.

2) Option to enable auto hole advance without any user input. Also knows what hole you are on if you start on 10 lets say.

3) Option to enable outline of green for better visibility and shape.

4) Mark feature now updates on the fly (as you move to your ball). So you can drive to your buddies ball, then on to yours.

5) Measure feature now updates on the fly.

6) Lockups are resolved (hopefully).

7) When syncing, the download course box no longer stays in the middle of the window.

8) Downloads are faster, they say by as much as 50%.

9) Unit now displays a USB symbol and some other information when it is connected to a PC.

10) The Measure feature now stops when you release the scroll button. It use to keep traveling a bit at times after you released the button.

I just updated to 3.0 and will use on the course tomorrow. Will give a review afterward. Does anyone know what voice recognition is for?

It would be for "command and control". User says "Mark ball" instead of pressing the button. "Go to" Hazard View, etc.

Thanks. The customer service rep I contacted didn't even know. For me it would be easier to just push the button.

I just updated to 3.0 also. I got an error message the first time I tried it....so I tried again and it worked flawlessly. New features are nice.....particularly auto hole advance. I heard from a reliable source that they are working on a very interesting feature in which you will use the mark function and enter the club you used. The device will then keep track of your average distance will each club. This would be an awesome feature. Probably won't be available for a while.

I'm quite impressed with the Upro product and service so far. They seem VERY responsive to customer input....this update resulted from lots of user suggestions. Let's hope that continues.

I have been using the Upro for about 3 months. I had the Skycaddie before. Upro is way better. the yardage is actually more accurate than the skycaddie. especially in green depth, etc. the new 3.0 upgrade is very helpful although i didn't have any problems before. i called customer service on a yardage issue. turns out they were right and i was wrong. very nice folks! they actually call you back when they say they will. can't recommend it highly enough!!

I used version 3 this past weekend.

The continuous "mark" feature is great. Able to measure distance to my ball, as well as to my playing partner's balls.

The measure feature now works as designed. No more overshoot when marking the distance to a point on the course.

I have become the defacto yardage marker for my playing partners.

Oh, one thing about the Upro vs the Skycaddie.

I played with people that had a Skycaddie. I noticed that they did not use the Skycaddie that often. Most of the time, they used it off the tee, but not much on the fairway. It dawned on me that they had to take the Skycaddie out of their bag or cart, so they only used it "when necessary". I have my Upro clipped to my belt. It's very light, so it doesn't interfere with my swing. My holder has a magnetic "snap" so it's very easy to access.

Tried to update to v3 last night using a MAC. Didn't work. Contacted Tech support (who got back to me withing 1/2 hr - bless em!).

Unfortunately, there is problems with the upgrade on MAC OS 10.4 which they are working on.

Solution for now is to use a Windows PC for the upgrade or wait for a fix for the MAC.

I presume from their response that it works OK with MAC OS 10.5, but not certain.

I upgraded mine with Mac OS 10.5.5. Worked flawlessly.
