Golf Courses in Fort Worth...

There is almost a chance that I might move to Fort Worth, Tx...so in light of that...trying to get a feel for some of the better public courses in the area.

Any leagues that might be worth looking into? Good golf stores out there?

 

We got lmtt.com here in Atlanta...Anything similar?

As far as Ft. Worth city courses go, Pecan Valley - River course is very nice. Check the URL link for additional info. Most of the city courses have a golf association and hold several tournaments during a month and provide GHIN service as well.

There are lots of great daily fee courses in the area. In no particular order or price range: Split Rail (Aledo), Cowboys and Grapevine Municipal (Grapevine), Sky Creek Ranch (Keller), Texas Star (Euless), Hidden Creek and Southern Oaks (Burleson), Whitestone (Benbrook) and many others depending on the drive you wish to make.

We've only got about 200 courses within a hour of here, and golf shops everywhere. You'll be fine.

2 PGA Superstores in the Dallas Metro....If you can't find it there...they don't make it!

Ive lived in the ATL and been in Dallas for a while now and think DFW golf is tough to beat. I do love ATL golf as well.

From a ton of solid muni's, to reasonably priced semi-private's to more great C.C. courses than you can imagine DFW golf has it all. Too many great places with a ton of history! You can play a new place every week and always have something new and good priced to check out.

 

Not to mention the new PGA tour superstores, edwin watts, golf galaxy, golfsmith, and all the generic sporting goods stores around. Also there are two different golf radio shows on the weekends, 1310 the ticket has one and 1033 ESPN has one as well.

I live just south and west of Fort Worth in Granbury and we have a great course called Harbor Lakes Golf Club, check it out if you get a chance!

 

And as for golf shops, check out Golfsmith in Arlington, GolfStop (a small shop close to Ridgemar Mall), and Golf Etc.

I've lived in Fort Worth all my life, born and raised. We have alot of good golf here and a very low cost of living. You'll also realize very quickly that Fort Worth is nothing like Dallas. Just two different mentalities.

 

I don't play the public courses that much, but would say that in Tarrant County I probably prefer Hawks Creek and Waterchase. Sky Creek Ranch is good too, but quite a ways from my house. From downtown Fort Worth, I can think of at least 10 public courses that are fun to play (and two that really aren't).

 

Expunge is a poster on here and is very familiar with Pecan Valley. I can't imagine anyone else could give you better pointers on courses in that part of town.

 

If you'd like any advice about this town, feel free to send me a private message. I don't want to give a chamber of commerce speach on a public forum, but there are different areas in town where you'd probably prefer to live depending on your lifestyle and golfing habits. One thing you might be surprised to find in Fort Worth is that private clubs are very cheap when compared to most areas of the country.

Waterchase is a must play.

Tierra Verde in Arilington is close and very nice

Cowboys is the most overpriced on the planet

Grapevine Muni is sweet but gets crowded...it's adjacent to Cowboys, 95% of the course for 25% of the price

Champions Gate is fun layout nice greens across from TMS

I beg your pardon, but Champion's Gate is in Orlando. Its the Golf Club At Champion's Circle that is across from TMS.

I went to TCU for undergrad and we used to always play the River Course at Pecan Valley. Very nice muni course. Played rail head in aledo (burb of FW) a couple weeks ago and it wasn't too bad either. Plenty of nice course around that area.

That's Split Rail in Aledo. Rail Head is a restaurant. Sorry for the corrections, just wanted the information to be accurate. :ok:
