Hey guys,

Im taking my first trip to Vegas the second week of December. Unfortunately im going with my fiance, so ill be playing single.

Were going for 3 days, so im probably only gonna play 2 rounds. Any advice of where to play, and if there are discounted rates, and what i should expect to dish out.

I wouldnt mind going up to Mesquite as well. I've always wanted to play Wolf Creek.

I played Bear's Best a couple of years ago. It was a good track. There are replica holes of Jack Nicklaus's favorites. It was about $50 if I remember right. That price was if you were staying a Harrah's. It may be good if you stay at ANY Harrah's property.

The course was in the movie "Lucky You". It's a poker movie with Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore, and Robert Duval. Eric Bana makes a bet that he can run a couple miles and then play 18 holes of golf in the 70's while carrying his bag in less than 4 hours. The golf was at Bear's Best.

+1 for Bear's Best. I've played it 4 times so far and each time have had a great time. Course is gorgeous and in great shape.

Jason (Jaylasvegas on this site) who works as one of the golf pros there is fantastic to deal with. Super great guy also.

If you are able check out the Callaway golf center which is just off the strip. It has a par-3 course that is lit up at night which is pretty fun and cheap. I have made a couple of trips to Vegas over the last few months for business which means meetings during the day and since I am not big into throwing my money away in the casinos golf at night is a perfect solution. I also played Angel Park which is another par-3 that is lit up at night but is about a 15-20 mintue drive from the strip.

I only have about $400 for golf.

Heres what im thinking.

Monday-Reflection Bay ($150)

Tuesday- Wolf Creek ($85)

Wednesday- Bears Best ($175)

Total-$410

Those are twilight rates, so i doubt if i get all of them that cheap.

Twilight here in Ohio starts at 1pm in the winter so hopefully its early there as well or, i would be pushing against the dark

I was out there a couple months ago and played Wolf creek in Mesquite and the Primm Valley desert course. I was please with both courses. One nice thing about both is that they are away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. Also if if play after one or two you can save a bunch of cash. The Callaway golf center is lighted so you can play till about 10 or 11 pm.

Great choices :D I played Reflection Bay in the summer, it was a little torn up then; however, I'm sure it is in great shape by now. Wolf Creek IMO is the mecca of golf. Plan on a 5-hour minimum round and make sure you're in great shape because you climb a lot of steps to get to the tee boxes, bring a camera as you will take some super breathtaking shots especially at the 14th tee box.

I haven't played Bears Best yet; however, I have heard great things about the course. Semper Fi said it best and JayLasVegas is a super guy. I'll probably get out there early next year to play it.

Be careful of twilight rates. You might not get the round completed. Two courses I enjoy playing in LV are Rhodes Ranch and Las Vegas National. They aren't as pricey and facilities are good. LV National is an old course in town, reminds me of the Desert Inn before it was dug up. Both of these courses have less desert that comes in to play, easier on your clubs. Wolf Creek could be quite a trip this time of the year, depending on temperatures and daylight.

JAT.

Shadow Creek is closed until mid Decemeber because they are upgrading some of the courses infrastructure. Wolf Creek is awesome, but is an 1 1/2 drive from the strip. Bear's Best is nice for a desert style course. If you like a green grass course and economical, try National. Rhodes Ranch and Tuscany are great as well. Reflection Bay is nice, but i think overated for the price and condition it is in a lot of times. Also, the company that owns the course has filed for bankruptcy. Since we are surrounded by mountains, sun sets around 4:15 at the height of the winter season so be careful with tee times. Hope that helps.

Most of the courses are in very good condition currently. Be careful with twilight rates as it gets dark by 5 or so and most courses you are looking at 5+ hour rounds. I know Bear's is in excellent shape as are most of higher end courses. PM if you have any questions about specific courses and i'll do my best to help.
