2x in Dominican republic - late january 2009

course recommendations??? experiences?

Hello Folks, !
well, a bunch of us (~8 golfers?) are going to the Dominican Republic for max 2 rounds in two different cities, Santo Domingo, staying at: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-infor...tel-and-casino/

Course recommendations and how do you get from the hotel??? taxis?
Looks like http://www.laslagunas.com.do/tarifas.htm most expensive is ~75$/round. which is fine.

at punta cana, we'll just stay onsite:
http://www.paradisuspalmareal.travel/ for a couple of days... looks like golf is somewhat included, though i am skeptical, it says on the website: "Unlimited green fees at Cocotal Golf Course" which if that means just cart fee, that is fine... found that: Cart Fee $35.00 + Tax per person per day


I'm looking for not too much inconvenience from the hotels, experiences? thoughts???

Cocotal is actually a long course from the tips- especially into the wind. I think there may be 27 holes there? Also, La Cana Golf Club at the Punta Cana Resort and Club is awesome PB Dye course. There is also the new Cap Cana development area where there is the Punta Espada Jack Nicklaus course that hosts the Champions Tour event. Place looks amazing! Opening in January is also the new Nick Faldo Roco Ki that is supposed to be the Pebble Beach of Carib. golf. Hope this helps.

looks like just santo domingo area golf on a sunday...

i tried to call and email this place, but it didn't work... http://www.guavaberrygolf.com/ their site is out of date and tee times don't work online...

Any ideas folks??? other courses? seems like a tough place to play near the marriott santo domingo! and how do i get there from the hotel???
