Nike Method Origin Putters: The Official Discussion Thread

There has to be a reason why no stores in the midwest have any of the retail models in stock yet.

 

Now I am hearing that Nike is delayed fulfilling custom orders. How is that possible? It's the same stock head and all that needs to be changed is the sole weights.

 

To have a release date of 4/22 and almost 3 weeks later none to be seen in the big box retailers is strange.

I'll be checking out the Golfsmith in Novi, MI this weekend hopefully.

After what felt like an eternity, my B2-01 arrived today. 33"/361g. Thoughts so far... I absolutely hate the headcover. HATE IT. I can see the heel of the putter peeking out and that drives me nuts because I just know when it moves around in the bag it's going to come off. I actually really like the stock grip so far. I'm excited to get a round in this weekend and I'll report back.

I have not seen anything official from Nike, but I would expect that only the same blade models that are available in LH for the Method Matter model to be made available in LH for the origin line.

Will there be a heel shafted mid mallet like the Method 003? I have one and a Bobby Grace AMG 18. If they make one I will probably pick one up since it sounds like it would have similar results as my grace in terms of off center strikes but not as mushy as the HSM insert.

I received my B2-01 yesterday, looks pretty good. There are still none in stock anywhere in the area that I've found so I was ordering blind. I have a buddy though who picked one up for me with his Nike discount so it wasn't too bad.

 

I ordered a 33" because I was under the impression that it came with a 361g head. I saw that thrown around on a couple places and even confirmed in the 2016 Nike catalog. I was a little surprised that it was 353g when I weighed it. I swapped the shaft out for another (to play it at my normal 35"). I only putted with it for a few minutes on a birdieball but it felt good. Some very early feedback

 

1. I hate the headcover.. it just seems like it doesn't fit.

2. I don't love the sight line. I putt with the toe up a bit and it makes the line look off (jagged?).

3. Slightly heel side feels very different from center/slightly toe. Center/slight toe feels great though. Again, VERY EARLY, but distance seems very consistent.

4. It looks really good. The shape is near perfect, the only thing that I don't love looking at is the sight line. Also, the neck is a little funny, can't really figure out why, but it just looks odd.

5. I never noticed in the pics, but there is a little gap where the 2 pieces fit together. A hole near the bumpers at the very heel and toe. Here is a pic that shows it well.

I know it is supposed to be like that, I just never noticed it (in pics) until it arrived. Thought maybe someone else might not have seen it either and figured I'd point it out.

I loved the b2 until I rolled the new SC Newport. I walked out empty handed because the SC is just too expensive. I'll wait on it and see if the origin feels better after a price drop

Just to update you lefty's out there. I called Nike Golf to custom order the Origin putter and with huge disappointment they are on backorder till AUGUST 25th (was put on backorder as of yesterday). They are available on Golfsmith's but on their site it says 1-2 weeks since it comes from the manufacturer. But for those of you who wanted to custom order it, I guess the wait continues. For those lefty's who already have their putter, I envy you. Now I gotta play the waiting game all over again....... :angry:

Has anybody bought the Counterflex Version and then removed the grip and cut it to 34" to get the 368 Gram headweight?

Anyone know which grip would be closest to the standard method matter grip? I want to replace the grip on the origin with the matter grip but have been unable to find one. Spoke with Nike and the only way to get one is to have a store with an account order one, but most stores won't order a single grip. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
