Bridgestone J15 Thread *MB pics pg.8 - DF vs VPC pics pg 7*

Well guys, it's been no secret that I love the J15 cb's. Been playing them the longest of any set I have owned. Being a golfing ho,I have tried lots of different irons to try to knock them out of my bag. Not sure why but it is an addiction. But the J15's always came through. The toughest competitor was the 716 cb's. They were great. But not better.

But I feel like I might have found a new winner. I just picked up a set of Bridgestone J015 cb's. Can't wait to get them. I see an epic battle between the two sets in the future. Has anyone here played the J015's and what did you think?

Tease, lol. So.......

I'm actively seeking a new set of irons for 2016. The J15CBs are nice but thinking of going with a set of MP5s with PX LZ 6.5 shafts. Think it would be a killer combo. Either that or I'm gonna hold out to see what Ping has in store for the S55 replacements.

I tried the MP5's and they are great. It's amazing how easy the blades are these days. My set of 945's were just about as easy as my J15cb's. From what I have read, the J015's should be a little smaller with the same forgiveness. If this is true, they should be perfect for me.

I can't wait for the replacement to the S55's also. I had two sets with different shafts and both were great. If they can improve the S55's, and that is a big if, they will be in my bag.... Wait

Curious....has anyone tried the AMT shafts in the J15 CBs?

I plan to buy a PX LZ 6.5 to try in my CB 4 iron. Have two J15 CB 4 irons, one with a set matching CTaper and one with a 6.5 PX. Not really loving either. Think the stock DG Pro shaft was great, just wish I had tried it in the X100 flex. S300 flex was a bit soft for me, but loved the high, strong flight.

The AMT's were great in my 716 cb's. The lighter weight in the long irons really made a difference. The problem I have is any S300 shafts hurt my elbow.v

I have been a Bridgetstone freak for several years and the J15CB are terrific but I just picked up a set of J015CB and have them shafted with Modus 105x. My J15 have the Modus 125x which are great. Just wanted to try something different. They have slightly less offset, thinner top line and slightly smaller profile then the US J15cb's but they have the same forgiveness. They do appear to have a deeper cavity then J15 which helps with trajectory but for me they are awesome. Let me know what you think about them as well since they look great and play even better.

They feel just as good as the J15 with a darker finish.

Post pics comparing those two irons at address guys!!

I can do that once I get back home tomorrow. Are there specific irons you looking for or just some random comparisons?

As much as I love Bridgestone I must admit a love for Nippon since my entire bag Is now being converted. If you guys like the feeling of the Modus iron shaft - you must try the new Nippon Regio Formula shafts that match up to the iron shaft you play. I play the 105 and 125 so I went with the Formula MB which feels exactly the same as my iron shafts. Terrific combination with the JGR or J715.

OK - right now I captured the 6 and 9 irons. Here they are.

As you can see they have a smaller profile (shorter heel to toe) , thinner top line and slightly less offset. I really like the grey smoke finish that looks great. I will try to get some more up with different clubs shortly.

The clubs do have the same specs as US model but I have my bent 2* upright per my spec. I definitely hit these higher than the US version but I think that is expected based off the larger cavity but with no distance loss.

The worse part is I think TM and I are on the same path to destruction. I have a brand new set of 945's sitting in my garage that I have not even looked at since the J015 came into the picture. I need to definitely do a garage cleaning and get my clubs on BST.

I need to change my signature. The 945's are one of the easiest blades I have hit. It was a tough decision between the J15's and the 945's but I went with the J15's over the 945's mainly because I am playing all Bridgestone woods, hybrids, and have the wedges and putters. And I figured the 4 iron was a little easier to hit. So I sold them and picked up a set of 716 cb's.

The 716's are great but I actually think the 945's are as easy if not easier to hit. But still my J15cb's would be the set I keep coming back to. The J015 cb's makes me think if the J15's and 945's had a baby, the J015's would be their offspring. Lol And if this is the case, they will definitely stop me from even looking at another set.

MPG, how would you compare the J015's to the 945's?

Right behind ya but if they are released later in the season I will wait for next season as im sure there will be a back order

Great point. Here's hoping they get released VERY soon! I have an exemption into a local Pro Event (Westchester Open) because I won a WGA event last year. Would love to have these by the end of June....wishful thinking maybe.

I have limited time with the 945's and only really hit the 8 iron but I think you clearly described it perfectly. The 945's are very similar to the J015 with slim top line and narrow heel to toe compact look but the J015 have the forgiveness and better feel to me. I personally did not like the 745 feel and did not think it was close to the J15 feel but feel is all subjective anyway. The 945 8 iron did feel better than the 745's but less forgiving.

My J015's arrived today. They are definitely better looking in person than what the pictures indicate. The sole looks identical to the J15's. The top line is smaller. My first shootout between the two resulted in a tie. The J015's were more online this time. The distance was the same. I am not sure of the KBS tour shafts in the J015's were the reason for the straighter and more online hits but they were definitely a tighter grouping.

I really am not putting too much into this demo because I just got off work and was very tired. But they were not harder today hit which is what I was afraid of.

Just a quick update on the J015's. First I know this thread is about J15's and if anyone thinks it is better for me to start a new thread,I will be happy to do so.

I am still trying different iron shafts. I believe the KBS tour custom shafts are stiffer than the seller stated. This is not a bad thing because I feel like I am hitting them straighter. But I do feel my tempo is getting off because of such.

I just installed a Ctaper lite stiff shaft in my 9 iron to see which I like better. I am digging the J015's in the ground more than the J15's. I wonder if they have the same sole, bounce, etc. In fact, if I didn't know any better,I would say these have the same soles as the J40's.

Also, my J015 9 iron already looks like my J15 9 iron. I have at least a minimum of 120 rounds on the J15's. This is not a knock on the J015's. Just a testament on how well the J15's are holding up. If the Ctaper doesn't do it for me, in goes the Modus.

Havent been in this thread much lately! Got the J15 MB's awhile ago. Beautiful...but not quite sure I made the right decision with the Modus 120X. Should just stick with what works..haha. I was disappointed though, its been a struggle getting used to these on the course (plus my swing has slowed down this year and I havent had much time to play and less time to hit). Finally took them to a fitter though b/c they seemed too upright. Sure enough they were at least 2 degrees upright of the stated specs on the Bstone site until you got to the 4 and 5 iron. Got them flattened, then promptly hurt my shoulder. First round since today, and it was night and day. While I'm not quite as long as I've been in the past (age and weighing 25 lbs more than ever are the likely causes), most of it came back...and I hit a ton of shots on a line at the flag.

I still think there might be a better choice of shaft for me, I'll stick with it a bit and see, but today was definitely encouraging.

I didn't like the modus 120 either. Currently getting a modus 130 installed to see if I like that profile better.
