A buddy worked with Jim Suttie when he was based out of Mistwood CC. He liked how things turned out but I know it wasn't cheap. You can look him up at jimsuttie.com. Might still be at Mistwood or over at Cog Hill.

I've never found anyone in the area that really worked for me or solved my issues, but that's more on me I'm sure. Plus it's hard as I travel for work a bit, so thankful I found Monte and this forum.

Another friend had a good experience over at Schaumburg Golf Club, with the woman instructor there , Peggy Ellsworth.

Good luck.

Went to a top rated Illinois instructor years ago and he set my game back a few years. Spent hundreds on lessons at St. Andrews but saw no improvement. Also went to the dude at Prairie Landing a few years ago..wasn't impressed.

Bought 6 online lessons from the 'one who teaches golf' (can't name him otherwise they may shutdown this thread) a couple of years ago and am down to a single digit handicap.

Tried to bring him to Chicagoland for a clinic last year and started a thread to gauge interest but the thread got shut down because they thought I was shilling for him.

$190/hour is a bit absurd.

Thanks though.

OP,I live in Yorkville and work in Joliet. As others have said and I have been saying for years,it is very hard to find a descent instructor around here. The best instructors seem to be in the year-round golf states.

There is a guy that teaches out at Olympia Fields named EA Tischler. You can YouTube him and see a lot of his stuff. He is quite pricey though.

There is a sentence in there I'm just biting my cheek and smiling over, but I won't type what I'm thinking for a change. ;-)

Hope you are getting time to play, we are drowned out around here.

Wow what a s*** forum.

Wow what a s*** attitude.

I'm going to respond so it may help others find great Chicagoland instruction. Three names come to mind: Patt Goss, Jeff Mory, and Sam McKenney. Goss is arguable one of the best short games instructors in the world. All three teach together for the Wildcat Golf Academy. If you are looking for a swing fix or tips, they aren't going to give them to you. Lots of fundelmetals, but they have groomed several D1 and tour pros. Goss is also Luke Donald's coach as well.

Nice Mac, you don't get an answer within 6 hours and you insult the people you are wanting to help you. Good luck with that. Go dust off your participation awards, maybe rearrange them this time.

6 hours and 5 minutes.

And I rearranged them last week pal.

I think I'm going to con tact Kevin Weeks.

Hope he calls right back.

I heard recently that Suttie left Mistwood and is now at Conway Farms. However I don't have first hand knowledge of that.

Well played.

Perhaps he'll listen to my voicemail 70 times before calling me back.

Haven't really run into any great instructors here, but there are some new names that I haven't heard of flying around this thread. Pay attention to what they say and ideally make sure you know what's good information and what's bad information. If you have any questions about what they show you, I'm certain there are many people and instructors on wrx that can validate for you. Most likely you'll even get a faster response because people from everywhere can respond, not just the people from the Chicago region :).

I've been to Kevin several times. He's a very good instructor/coach. Stays on top of latest info but has old school knowledge as well. I'd say he does have some preferences but will help you any way you swing.
did you ever go and see EA tischler for a lesson? I know you were interested last year at some point.

Will being left-handed effect anything?

Probably. Kevin's range is right handed golfer oriented, so he'll be standing behind your back at address, but there's a mirror on the other side.

Just keep firing away Hawkeye! You're on a roll.....lol

I better quit. I figured it had been forty minutes and he would be demanding a response. ;-)

Go see Suttie. You two deserve each other...
