Most Interesting, Unusual, and/or Expensive Ball Mark

In the Pet Peeves thread I mentioned a buddy of mine who uses a Morgan silver dollar to mark his ball. It is about 100-years-old or so and he claims it is only worth about $15 or so because of the condition.

 

I use a challenge coin from some classes I took and managed to pass having graduated in 2013 - nice and large so I can't lose it but smaller than a poker chip. It costs me $8 at the time but has incredible sentimental value.

 

So, anyone use anything unique? Valuable? Post some images of what you use!

I use an old 50 cent piece I've had for probably 20 years. Also use a ball mark from PGA National I got last year. My buddies call it a manhole cover. Alternate between the two.

 

Today, I saw the strangest ball marker yet. My son was using a peppermint he had in his pocket. Sigh

I have seen 1oz gold coins used a few times. Regardless of the price of gold, they are worth more than I spent on my clubs.

I visited a jeweler and had a nice coin gold plated. Learned a couple of things the day I took it to the Golf course. First of all, Silver is a lot more visible than Gold and I would have been way better off having the coin silver plated. Second, I should have kept the coin in my pocket if I wanted to keep it, but the caddy stole it after I forgot to get it back at the end of the round. No big deal as I really did not care for the coin anymore anyway.

 

I don't do that kind of thing anymore.

Good news is I think my ball might actually roll under that sort of a marker. No having to move it too much!

 

Seriously, one guy I used to play with used some sort of an oversized collectable penny. Cracked me up because on darker greens that thing was really hard to see even though it was about the size of a quarter. At the time it was about 100 years old - said it was a part of an old family coin collection. He used it all of the time and it was well worn - barely able to see the date and face on the coin. Wonder if he is still using it.

I've got a British penny from 1905 that I'm fond of using. It's a nice Bronze colour so not to eye catching for others but big enough to not be missed. Also proves to be an interesting conversation piece with people.

I travel a lot and usually end up with foreign coins a lot that work just fine. My favorite are just a US quarter or a NZ 50c.

 

Also have some markers from my last Scotland trip that I like using...St Andrews, Dornoch, Carnoustie etc
