Wedge Shaft & Flex

I am looking for suggestions on wedge shafts. I am currently playing Dynalite Gold XP S300s in my irons and the standard wedge flex DGs (S200's i believe) in my wedges. I am thinking of re-shafting the wedges with DG S300, DG TI S400, or DG Spinners. What would be the cookie cutter answer as to what I should be playing (heavier or lighter and stronger or weaker flex versus irons)? I believe the Dynalite Gold XPs are around ~10 grams lighter than the DGs, so I am currently playing slightly heavier but softer flex wedge shafts. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

Bob Vokey's general recommendation is to play a slightly softer and slightly lighter shaft in the wedges compared to the irons. Hence the S200 stock shaft in the SM6's compared to the current S300 stock shaft in the AP2, CB, and MB.

I have Black Gold Xs in my irons which I believe are somewhere between a 6.5 and a 7.0. I put PX 6.5 8 iron shafts in my wedges. I kinda wish I put PX 7.0s in them, but that is a small issue. They work great. Lots of control on full shots (no ballooning) and the feel around the greens is great. The standard S400 shafts that come in wedges were terrible for me but I deeply dislike Dynamic Gold shafts in general. I tried a KBS Tour X wedge shaft in one for a little while, but I thought it felt like complete pookah. The weight was good, but the shaft was crap.

Pretty sure the standard DG that comes in most wedges / 'wedge flex' is S200.

I've tried to mimick Tiger's approach - 9, PW, SW, LW all the same length and same shaft.

s***, I didn't know that, but coincidence I do have all mine same, cept my 9 is 1/4 inch longer......wedges always seem so short to me, so I made em same as my PW

Yes wedges are same weight as irons and tad softer, experimented tons with stiffer, softer and lighter and heavier........I agree with what pros and most wedge builders do......same weight and hair softer, makes sense really becuz wedges are partial shots......8 iron shaft of same set works very well too.........

Try to keep it as consistent as possible

I like a little heavier in my wedges to get that wrecking ball effect when pitching. The one without Miley Cyrus.

I prefer a heavy, stiff shaft in my wedges. I have a problem w/ hitting clubs too high though - so those help knock it down a little. Currently reshafting all of my irons and wedges to Project X 6.0's.

How did this work out for you? I have project x 6.0 in my new irons and it’s really knocked the ball flight down. I’ve always hit the S200 too high so I’m thinking about just switching to 6.0 in each wedge. Or just 6.0 in 58 and 6.0ss in 54&58.

It was okay man, but honestly technique is such a better change than trying to buy a shaft to flight your ball lower.

Heck even loft adjustments is a better route than new shafts and infinitely cheaper!

I think the most complete wedge shaft on the market right now is the KBS 610. I may end up grabbing a few of these for my wedges in the near future.
