I think the Yes Sophia and Rife Bimini are the two best ones out there these days. I had a Sophia, but the style of putter wasn't ultimately for me. But I liked its features so much that I'll be watching Yes's website in hopes that they release an homage to my favorite model, the Bullseye.

Im a blade Napa player myself, and I picked up a SWEEET Honma blade putter.  I had never seen one until I saw this one, so I dont know where to find them.  I guess that doesnt help.

I might checkout the others mentioned here, because Im not paying 3-400 for a used Napa backup putter....

edited: added Rife pic

edited: added Bettindardi pic  *doesnt look like it will be any cheaper than a napa

Are you the TP Mills guy?  Are those available for sale or you just wanting to taunt blade putter lovers???  If they are, whats the price range for the 1st and 3rd one?  I luv my Napa, but it's moreso the fact that it's a blade, not because it says scotty on it.

Im not a really a putter hoarder, since every putter I like is the same as what I have, but I DO like that TP Mills if the price is reasonable.

Byron Morgan just released a Designed by Captain Morgan putter that is fabulous! At least it looks fabulous! I definitely would love to try one of these out.

These old school putters are great it they suit your stroke. I like the old Arnold Palmer AP30R. It has less offset than the 8802 styles and is a shorter blade length. If there were any modern reproductions of the AP30R or something similar I would be interested in acquiring one. The two AP30Rs that I own are almost 50 years old and quite worn but still put the best role on the ball that I have ever experienced.

Nice to see someone else who actually knows the AP30R. The AP30R was my first blade putter as a kid, followed up by several 8802's and then a Daiwa Pro Balance that I used for years. The Daiwa which I thought was years ahead in feel compared to the Yonex which Phil used but alas...like today back then everyone wanted what someone on tour was playing.

Blade putters are great if they suit your stroke. As a long time user of them, I will be the first to admit, if your stroke is going south...the blade putter is the last thing you should use. It will show all your weaknesses from every distance.

If you're looking for modern blade putters which will but much cheaper then the original Wilson 8802's and Arnold Palmers, I think the new offerings by Rife and Byron Morgan are a great way to go. Other older putters if you can find them that are pretty inexpensive are the Cleveland's, Teardrops and Pings.

Pit,

I found an AP30R (Personal) on Golf Classifieds and picked it up for $40. It is in really nice condition. The face is so much smoother than my gamer which has quite a few miles on it. Interestingly, this one is slightly different than my others which are just AP30Rs with the Arnold Palmer signature engraved on the hosel. This one has "Personal" engraved on the other side of the hosel along with "AP30R." It also seems to have just a hair more offset, but still less than an 8802.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the history of these putters and what year they were manufactured?

I actually have both as well. The "Personal" and the one that just has the sig and AP30R on it. The one with just the sig, I got new back in I believe 1977. The "Personal" model I actually only purchased from Ebay about five years ago as I was hoping to get a nicer less dinged up version of my old junior golf gamer. You're right on the different look of the head. I think it's actually a tad lighter as well. I wouldn't doubt it's a model that came out maybe in the early 70's just looking at the shaft and ferrule on it. I'm sure someone else with a much greater knowledge of born on dates will know better then I. I'm more used to bought on dates. ;)

There's the Yonex Super ADX Tour Forged. Phil played one back in the day, it was all chromed out with a graphite shaft. I gamed one for a while before moving into the Odessey #9. They come up on ebay every now and then. Loved that putter though.

Im interested in an 8802 style blade putter. Looking for some more options besides the standard Wilson 8802, Scotty Cameron American Classic VII, Scotty Cameron Napa Valley, Yes Golf Sophia. What else is out there that I dont know about? Thanks!

There are alot of old brass hogans, palmers, etc.. from the 60's 70's and 80's that may suit your taste if you are up to restoring one of them. You can find some cheap ones for like $20-30.The modern designs are not always the best looking. Take the old Spalding putters for example. You can find them on ebay for 20-30 and oil can them etc....

I prefer a customized putter but that is just my take.
