Nike Footwear 2017

Recommended Posts

I can see each side...I don't think that the people who are going to see this and decide not to buy things this year spend enough overall to have that big of an impact on sales if they stop buying things now. Some, certainly, but not that much. Whereas I'm still planning on buying one of their most expensive shoes in an unseen colorway that most people around here have balked at, as well as other shoes on top of clothing and equipment I'm continuously buying. In fact seeing this has already made me commit to buying something that I don't even know when it's coming out.

Their regular shoe lines get leaked all the time and those shoes usually launch to much more fanfare. I don't know how many times I've seen new colorways or new models of shoes release this season for Nike to post a small blurb on the website days after it has been available for sale. I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong anymore, I just wanted to offer a different perspective. I certainly hope this isn't damaging, and I hope that if it is stuff like this doesn't cause the wrong people to get punished, ie a few ruin it for everyone.

A lot of times when their regular shoes get leaked it's a controlled leak.

I've been in on a little bit of their product launches (used to work for a vendor of theirs) and know others who have been involved extensively. In there eyes it ruins momentum and reduces the demand for current offerings. While it might create some buzz for next years line, the buzz will die down due to the amount of time until said products launch. The other side is what if they were working on a technology that they were going to release next year and say TM was working on the same technology and not scheduled to release until the following summer. They could then rush a product out ahead of Nike and basically send Nike back to the drawing board. Just another view.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to put out a different point of view.

In the real world, when a company doesn't want information about something to leak, they have recipients of said information sign an NDA.

If Nike is giving these catalogues to people, without having them sign an NDA, they expect that it's going to get out prematurely... assuming that this is actually "premature," based on their expectations.

Well considering the people I know had a response to this of "sh!t, that's not good" and "so much for the product launch momentum." I would say they weren't planning on them getting out. Also if you have ever been a purchaser of product, you don't sign an NDA when ordering product for the next year or ask a customer to sign one when ordering. Or to take an exact quote "well, some idiot pro leaves his stupid desktop open and someone gets a stupid screen grab and doesn't care what it does for the brand."

If you want to see a leak follow Sole Collector or Sneaker News

So maybe I don't operate in the real world.

If it continues to happen it eventually will ruin it for everyone. Also the big model shoes usually have some kind of story tied to them for the Kobe, KD, and LBJ lines, which is why there's hype for every launch, tougher to do this with golf.

we don't operate in the real world I think we're a little too close to the picture and want things to work the way they were meant to be but obviously that doesn't always go as planned. With that being said I haven't seen one person make an accurate statement about the shoes in the pics since no model names were shown which is a good thing.

This was posted in the 2016 thread, but since most are 2017 colors. Might as well post here.

The top white pair are the only ones that intrigue me. It looks like the Flyknit Elite sole. I understand it is a sketch, but I wonder if the Flywire and stitching will be a contrasting color like that. I hope not.

None of them you'll find out during product launch

Look, I understand that for some reason you're on some crusade to protect Nike's new line, but please don't insult our intelligence and claim that bottom shoe is not the next Lunar Control. Just stop.

Thanks for saying what I was thinking. This 'circle the wagons' mentality on Nike's secret launch is ridiculous and childish IMO. Nikes job is to do everything they can to keep things under wraps, while our job is to find out every detail we possibly can, any way we can.

The simple fact is, WE ARE THE BRAND and what makes it the cash cow it is, so nobody here owes any explanations for sharing or leaking whatever they can find.

I'm new here, and it's threads like THIS ONE that convinced me this is where i needed to be.

Big thanks to the cat who gave us the goods btw, much appreciated.

Well, if that ends up being the case, I'll apologize. This secrecy thing is just ridiculous though. I'm a Nike stockholder and I say let it fly. It only builds the hype.

you're wrong I usually tell people when they've guessed right and you're wrong you're absolutely 100% wrong. I let information go when I'm told I am allowed to so that's where I'm coming from.

Ok, my apologies then. I can't imagine where those shoes fall in the line though since they look very similar to LC4s. Time will tell I guess.

Anyone that has the catalogue knows Mula is right. None of those guesses were correct. Also, I'm pretty sure whoever took that screenshot or gave that catalogue page would not want Nike finding out that it was them. That tells you something right there about whether Nike wants that shared or not, no matter what all the marketing geniuses here think.

Last thing anyone should want is Nike's legal or loss prevention divisions coming after them.
