Titanium framed golfbag

Hi fellow WRXers,

 

I've been a mechanical engineer for the last 10 years and been into golf for a little bit longer than that. All these years, I've wanted to build a Titanium framed cart or carry/ stand bag. Recently I came across some old stock of Ti tubes and started wondering if I could start off by modifying an existing bag, making it better and hopefully lighter.

 

If its successful, I could try to put it into a small production run but I really don't know if anyone would be interested in an expensive idea that doesn't really do a whole lot more than what's already available. I wanted to gauge your thoughts before buying the stock off my company. Please let me have your opinions; complete waste of time, great idea, you'd buy it, price points, anything. Even if it doesn't get built to sell, I might still build one just for fun and post pics of it, although it might end up looking like any other bag. LOL!

Mizuno did this with aluminum a few years back & they were unbelievably heavy.

So let's get this straight. You want to build a bag -- that looks like any other bag -- that will cost at least twice as much as any other bag -- in an economic downturn?

Quick Tip -- put "Scratch" on the side of the bag - it'll sell.

I have the Mizuno bag referred to in a previous response. I use it only for travel, because it is lighter than a regular bag, and I can get the weight under the limit for additional charge. Also, I like the way the tubes protect my clubs while they are in the Club Glove travel bag. Of course, I use the stiff arm. It is a good combination and has served me well. You may consider these points for the "traveling golfer."
