I live about 20 min north of seattle. Golf here is awesome in the summer, 3 months of 70-80 degree weather and gorgeous courses. A few of the months are a little cold and damp but golf is still great. You can golf year round but nov-feb can be pooring rain or freezing temps, so sparatic golf is the most likely option.

Favorite course: Golf Mountain, Mccormick woods, Port ludlow are all great out on the penninsula.

Washington National, Trophy lake are really nice down south.

Up north are Sudden Valley, Semiahmoo, Loomis Trail, Homestead Farms, Eaglemont.

Eastern washington has Bear Mountain Ranch, Apple Tree, Desert Canyon, and highlander.

All of those courses are awesome, top notch washington public tracks. As far as locally to Seattle, Jackson park, Jefferson Park (where freddy couples played), West Seattle, and Legion Memorial are all alright.

If you are interested in private courses or have any questions just PM me.

I live 25 minutes across the border in Canada. I play golf in the Bellingham area all the time. There are so many good golf courses in the Pacific Northwest. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

I lived in Tacoma, Kirkland, and on Queen Anne.

Gold Mountain (2 courses)is great. Olympic is better than Cascade

McCormick Woods was also a favorite.

Newcastle is nice but way overpriced.

WA National and Trophy Lakes are nice.

Druid Hills was OK.

Fort Lewis is open to the public now, and it used to nice.

McChord Air Force Base is nice, but must be military

North Shore was OK. They have drainage issues (soggy) and it was always packed.

There are many more scattered through the region. I loved Seattle golf because the courses were always lush, and the summertime was perfect weather.

Chester thanks for the golf guide link I'm trying to plan where I want to play this summer along with some house hunting. I really don't want to leave california but the wife has followed me around for many years and if she wants to to move north I at least owe her that much :kewlpics: and by the looks of it I'll have plenty of places to play I'll just have to invest in some good rain gear. Thanks Again!

Agree with those who posted earlier. I left 5 years ago but it probably hasn't changed much.

A great location to live would be on the Olympic peninsula where you are close to Gold Mountain (US Mid-Am this year?), McCormick Woods and Trophy Lakes. You can get a ferry to Vancouver Island from here as well as the ferry to downtown Seattle. There are also areas on the peninsula which I believe they describe as being in the banana belt (Squim (sp?) for example) which receive very little rain.

I used to live at Harbour Pointe but the course is not the same since they build all the houses around it. Willows Run is not too bad a public course and Newcastle is great for views but not so good on the pocket!

I play up here year 'round and I can tell you first hand that ALL the Seattle muni courses (Jackson, Jefferson, West Seattle and Interbay) are all older and have TERRIBLE drainage.

If you want great courses nearby, you want to go 1/2 hr. north, south or east of Seattle (obviously can't go west really). Although Gold Mtn., Trophy Lake, Port Ludlow and Dungeness on the peninsula are great, just too far to go on a regular basis. Gold Mtn. is by FAR the best public course in WA.

1/2 hr. north you have Kayak Pt., Avalon, Harbour Pointe that are all great tracks, drain well, and are fairly priced.

1/2 hr. south you have Washington National (Huskies home course and a little spendy, but amazing), Druids Glen, The Classic (alright, maybe 45 minutes south).

1/2 hr. east you have Trilogy (probably in the best shape year round of any course but it's short and only a par 70), Willows Run (Eagles Talon course is tougher, longer and more fun links-style track), Newcastle (WAAAAAAAAY overpriced, but cool views of Rainier).

Basically, when you get up here, just PM me and I'll give you the FULL rundown. The beauty of Seattle golf is that if you are willing to play in bad weather, it's practically free! Winter rates are killer deals.

I'm from just outside Vancouver, BC and there's a lot of nice courses in northern washingston close to me.

I think Semiahmoo and Loomis Trail were mentioned, they're both awesome courses, and North Bellingham and Homestead are nice too.

I've only played a couple private courses around seattle so I don't know what it takes to usually get on them ( I played them in tournaments ) the two were Seattle Golf Club and Canterwood Golf and Country Club, both are great tracks and are among my most favorite courses played
