I'm looking forward to hitting the new JPX line against most of what was listed but by pics in this thread give me all but the PSI's before the JPXs. They are still good looking though. Cant wait to hit them.

Thanks for the pics!

I agree it's a weird product line evolution... But who cares.

Seems like they are trying to create the most forgiving blade possible while maintaining the pure look. In the past when Mizuno has used that "power frame" design, it does move the sweet spot slightly more toward the toe and increase MOI.

And they look great at address.

They already did that last September when they released the 5's.

I'm willing to bet that the JPX900 Tour have a slightly higher C-dimension, as there appears to be more weight towards the toe. And the MOI should be at least as high as the MP-5.

Probably won't be your last non-Nike purchase.

Hit the 900 tours today against my current cally apex pro 14s and the titleist cb.

These things are really slim, especially the sole. As usual with Mizuno the blade length is still quite long from heel to toe. Because of this I found them to be a bit more fade biased than the other two irons and as a natural fader of the ball I had to fight against them going right.

Feel was buttery soft though and distance was where you would expect them to be for the type of iron they are. Not really sold on the finish, it looks good but there is something about them that doesn't quite suit my eye. Definitely prefer the chrome of the MPs.

I wanna take those Tours behind the middle school and get 'em pregnant.

With so little help where it counts, that will be the only way many players will be able to "hit" them.

They're certainly a good looking iron, but probably too much, or more like too little, for a 13 like myself. My post was an attempt to fish our any other 30 Rock fans on these boards.

I could not get over the wedges.

Ordered

52-9, and 58-12 with same PX LZ shaft as 900 Tour irons.

Now, let's get all this sweet new stuff packed up and shipped out this week.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had the opportunity to hit these against my current gamers, King Cobra MB/CB set.

LOOKS: JPX Tours! I am a CTAPER lover and I could ONLY imagine what these would look like with this iron head. They didn't have it shafted up with a CTAPER but it would look sweet. I really loved the MP 5's because they were simple and elegant but these are sweet! Mizuno killed it this year in the looks departments. GREAT JOB!

FEEL: I believe Cobra didn't get much love in this department because I think they were very comparable to the JPX Tours. I think they felt about the same and I loved the feel of them both...TIE!

DISTANCE: While I was not hitting same shafts (CTAPER-MINE) I hit them with the PX 6.5 and the distances were VERY comparable, 2-5 degrees difference. Dispersion was very similar but since I had "my" shaft I hit the Cobra's slightly better. I did like the HT distance better in the JPX Tours, land a little softer. You were PUNISHED for missed hit, 7-10 yards of distance loss.

I think when I get back from deployment I will be getting a set of JPX Tours (maybe combo set) with some of those NEW wedges too. I think MIZUNO will have the BEST looking wedges and irons of the 2016-2017 golf season.

Just my .02 cents.

Good review, thanks.

I demo'd the Tour, 900 forged, and the iblade quite a bit yesterday, all with KBS tour except the iblade, modus 105. 7 iron with the iblade, 6 iron with the Mizzys.

The forged were ok, a little loud and Clicky. Was getting about 175 but the dispersion was bad. No thanks.

Tours look great, and i was getting about 175 with these as well. Great feel, and good dispersion. Mis hits seemed to lose about 10-15 yards but was straight.

Iblade felt as good or better than the Tours. I was getting about 173, but these were a 7 iron. Surprised. Very tight dispersion and mishits lost about 5-10 yards. Very awesome club. Looks were about perfect.

I am getting professionally fit next week, and will be getting one of these. If I had to pick today, it's the Iblades. I will report back next week.

Just curious, but would you stick with the Modus 105's in the iblade? I think they make excellent shafts (I game the Tour 120's), but have never tried KBS.

I don't fully understand why people are so out of sorts that the JPX line received such a playeresque iron. Yes theyve previously delineated each range by player profile, but they've been known to blur those lines in the past in order to suit a particular type of player. I think if one looks at it from an aesthetic standpoint moreso than simply a handicap range, it makes a lot more sense.

People have clamored for satin MP irons for years and haven't really been indulged. I think this is Mizuno bringing an edgier, flashier design to a players iron and categorizing it by looks moreso than player ability.

Surely that'll hurt them for the folks that won't buy anything other than an MP iron, but it may gain them some traction with the better younger golfer that doesn't want the somewhat dated chrome look. A lot of people still buy on looks, and this release brings an aesthetic to the table that simply didn't exist in their lineup before. It doesn't really fit in with JPX or MP.

well said. these looks are up my alley. while i have like the sizes of some of the mp line i did nto like the style. the minute these came out i ordered them. i think this product line is great and brings a lower handicap option to the non mizuno purists that like the jpx line. now they can grow players iron in 2 catergories that appeal to 2 different asthetics of golfers. well done mizuno.
