For me personally, I don't think putters differ in performance greatly from club to club (unless you count Yes, Rife, etc. with the grooves)...unlike offset drivers, game improvement irons, etc. you can't correct a poor shot (misread) with your equipment, it's mostly technique. For me, I love my Redwood, and I don't see it leaving the bag any time soon. Its feeling is soft, but not vague, solid, but not clunky. I think the Scottys "click" more, and some people look for that in a putter, but for me the Redwood fits my eye, and my style, to a tee. The only thing that could change my current putter would be if a Redwood Tess was released (pay attention Ping!) I would highly recommend the Redwood, best of luck with your search.

Which Scotty? the Studio Select?

With both putters being stainless steel you'd expect them to feel similar to a certain degree. I agree with NCJag in that the Scotty 'clicks' a little more in comparison, and personally I like the more solid feel of the Redwood. But of course which is one 'better' depends on which feel you prefer.

Besides, a used Redwood in beautiful condition don't cost that much these days, which is a great deal of value considering it's such a quality putter. Obviously it would have less 'bag appeal'.

Redwood only comes in Anser though, there's no Anser 2 option for that.

I slightly favor the Redwood. One reason is that I use a 34 inch length and I can get a 340 gram head in my preferred style (ZB). Scotty Cameron has offered some great putters in that style: Coronado, Studio Design #1 and #2, and the Circa 62 #1. The only catch is that they're all 330 gram headweights and sold at 35 inches. I know you can cut it down and add lead tape, but it's easier to just start with a 340 gram head.

You basically wrote exactly what I was going to! Redwood Anser is the best Anser ever. And don't forget, the Newport 2 was basically copied from the Anser.

I own both, a Studio Select 1.5 360g and a Redwood D66 343g.

At the moment the Scotty is in the bag, mostly because I like the heavy head which seems to give me great control and the half shaft offset fits me better. The Redwood putts good as well, right now it´s just this tiny bit the Scotty is in front ... as of now, you never now what I will think / say / fell in 2 or 3 months.

For the feel: the Redwood definetely feels softer, no question. The Cameron has more of a "click" sound and feel in comparison to the PING.

Both are great putters, that´s why I´m not going to sell one of them anytime soon. And I´m pretty sure they are going to rotate sometime.

You will be happy with any of these putters! If money didn´t matter and I would be looking for a putter it would be one just like poppman2142´s, just with a little heavier head. ---> http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=199961

I'm a huge fan of PING, especially when it comes to their putters, but the comparison between the Studio Select and Redwood series is not so favorable toward PING, IMO...at least when it comes to the Anser. I think the Redwood Anser is where the ball got dropped; it's too similar to the G2 series, where PING dumbed down the lines and made the design more industrial. It's a good enough putter, to be sure, but corners were cut.

The Studio Select Newport 2 is definitely more refined, with softer lines and nicer milling, and with more options for weight...out of the box. I think it feels a good bit softer, but only because it's a heavier putter--face is thicker or something, because I think it absorbs sound vibration better. Personally, I like the ZB better in the Redwood series, but still have to tip my hat in favor of the Cameron.

But, in the interest of pushing you toward a 100% PING bag; having a Cameron flatstick in an otherwise all-PING bag would be as silly as going to McDonald's to get some pancakes for breakfast, then going to IHOP to get a hamburger for lunch. :D

I have used both Scotty Cameron and the Ping Redwood series, and without question the Ping Redwood series is the better value. With the Ping Wrx thru Morton golf I got both of my Ping Redwood putters, an Anser and a ZB model to my personal specs of 31-1/2" in length, 350 grams, and lie angle of 67 degree, in a starshot finish. And being a lefty, everything that Ping offers is available lefthanded as well as righthanded. Cameron are great putters, but it is extremely frustration trying to get exactly what you want because their options are very limited, and are almost non-existance for us lefties. Ping gives me exactly what I what, in a professional manner, and on a realistic budget. You can't ask for anything more from a putter manufacturer.

By the way my signature needs updating, I am currently gaming a Redwood ZB.

Don't fight it man. Cameron's are butter. More so if you can get your hands on a Circle T.

Hell, I use a white Ping staff bag with not a single Ping in it.
