New Macgregor DCT Putter

Looks like a downgrade from 08's model

Sorry, I don't have a camera to take a picture of it, but I can try explain it.....

- Falls under the catagory of Mid-Mallet putters.
- Double bend shaft.
- Green insert that still has the DCT technology.
- Damond as its allignment along with a single black line.
- Chrome finish.
- 17-4 Stainless steel head with a polybutadiene insert.
- 3* of loft
- $130

When you see it you might think it looks good, but it was gold for the Golf Digest Hot List, so it might not be to bad.

No offense, but this thing is ugly. The Hot List is just a place to start, you'll find a lot better golf equipment information right here on wrx...

The new line hasnt been put online yet so we are going to have to wail until someone takes a pic at the pga show or has an inside source with macgregor and can get a picture from them. The multi colored insert dcts have een out for more than a year.

I went to my local book store a few days ago and they had the Feb. addition of Golf Digest which has the Hot List in it, there was a new 2009 Macgregor DCT putter that wasn't any of those, and trust me its new not like a 2008 or 2007 model.

The only place I've ever seen these in person was at Longaberger Golf Club's pro shop last summer. Felt really nice. Good weight and I liked the feel of the insert. Firmer than my XG.

Amazing deal at $39.99 fellas. It is a great putter, soft feel, but still feels solid unlike the soft hollow feeling of my White Hot XG. The headcover is decent, and has a magnetic clasp. If they had the MT 460 in X flex, it would be on the way to my house along with the Sanibel.

Sunset is the model I have. There really isn't anything I don't like about it. That's a steal at $39.99. I even like the head cover. Better design than the AME style IMHO.

If you could. What's the offset of the Sunset like? Full hosel or 1/2 hosel? Wasn't successful at finding a top down pix anywhere.

Also, any idea what the headweight is?

The headweight on my Sunset is 355gr and the offset is about 3/4 shaft.

I have been playing with the lakewood for a year. Really nice putter if you like inserts. I did take advantage of the rock bottom deal and bought the Sunset, Sarasota, and Sanibel. I will be switching to the sunset for this year.

 

The technology is a little like cheating. I have missed putts on the heel and toe and still had them go in thanks to the DCT insert. Admittedly, the blue rainbow face looks a little silly but the rest of the putter is top notch.

 

At the end of the day, take a flier, for $40 bucks its a cheap experiment.

I have a topline look of this putter in my WITB post. Looks more 1/2 shaft offset to me though.

I'll be pulling the trigger on a shorter one. Pretty much attracted to the Soft-tailesque profile, also my first insert. A 10gm plug deep in the hosel and a 60gm backweight should make us dance in tune.

Sorry Red, I didn't see your question before now.

 

The MacGregor website refers to the Sunset as "1/2 offset". Seems about right. It's not as offset as a plumbers neck, but it's not a straight in shaft either. Don't know the head weight, though others are saying 355g.

No worries. Saw the photos in Blinden's bag. The hosel is just about what I could live with.

 

Say, aren't you straying from the regular sandbox too? :D

From the photo looks kind of similar to the "Fat Lady Swings". Not nearly as sharp as the 2008 Grace DCT's.

I called Macgregor today to ask about this one and the Rep I talked with claimed to know nothing about this putter, so your guess is as good as mine. If this putter hits the shelves I'm sure it will have the Grace name on it since Macgregor retained all rights to the Bobby Grace name.
