Love the Review so far! Does any one have any comparison to the Kuro Kage XT?

 

Very similar launch, lower spin than Kuro kage xt.

 

Interesting, I cant wait to try one and see what kinds of numbers I get out of it.

Anyone using the white compare to the W series? W series, to me is just an amazing shaft.

 

I have used the W series in the past I would say the Pro White is a little smoother with lower spin

Big thanks to MRC and WRX for the opportunity to test both. I put my name in the hat to get a chance to test the Tensei White as I was looking for something to spin along the same lines as the BB6 and wouldn't you know it, I received a PM with the opportunity I was hoping for!

 

I was actually fiddling between the Tensei Blue, Kuro Kage Silver and Tour AD BB 6 in my 915 for the last month and have to say, the Tensei really surprised me. Spin numbers were 300-500rpm higher than both the Kuro Kage and BB6, but what impressed me the most was the control I felt I had with the Tensei over both. I've always been a big fan of the Tour AD line, mostly because I gravitate towards shafts that are softer up in the handle, but offer stability in the mid-section all the way down into the tip. The Tensei Blue delivers just that and if I were to compare it to any shaft I've tried in the MRC line, I'd have to say the Diamana B series would be a mirror image. I've since switched to the M2 and will be giving the Tensei White a test in the M2 which is proving to be a better fit for me, numbers wise. All testers were lucky enough to receive both a Tensei Blue and Tensei White; with already having experienced the Tensei Blue in the 915 and not achieving the numbers I wanted, I'll be putting both through the paces and will report back on the differences I see and feel.

 

I'll post pictures before I leave on vacation tomorrow with the box I received from MRC, and will complete my review upon my return. Had these plans well before the contest was even announced, so my apologies to WRX and MRC for any delays.

Guessing your previous Blue Tensei was not the Pro version? I have tried both and the Pro is night and day better than the stock.

 

Correct Shilgy, was not the Pro Blue. I now have both and will put them through the paces to see the differences.

 

But by no means was the CK Blue a slouch--the average golfer would fit into this series of shaft nicely, IMHO.

No question-I had the stock CK Blue at first and it was good but on certain days it the dispersion was a lot wilder-for me. With the Pro it just seems to be a lot more stable. But as I previously mentioned I also went up in weight from the stock 50 to the Pro 60 which has no doubt helped as well.

Had a lesson today, the lastwo few lessons we havery been working on my driver, today my coach watched me hit 5 shots with the Pro White and told me to put the driver away as I couldn't hit it any better.

He then asked me to put the Rogue back in so he could see if I was just having a good swing day.

5 shots later with the Rogue and it was like watching the Red Arrows display team, ball was flying everywhere.

Clearly the materials in the Pro White are just far superior to the 110 Rogue.

Also the Pro White feels a little stiffer than the Rogue, I appreciate there is no industry standard.

Well shoot! This is the one contest I was freaking out to try a shaft. This one is definitely on my radar to hit. I'm a fanatic about the whiteboards. I have played the OG whiteboard, D+, Ahina, w-series, and second gen D+ for years. I'm currently on the OG whiteboard. I can't wait to hear the results and I guess I'll end up with a Tensei as well.

In the limited testing I've been able to do while we enter what is, apparently, monsoon season, I have found the Pro White and the 125 Rogue to be more similar than the 110 was/is for me as well. I will say the Pro White has a slightly different feel in the hands than my 125 Rogue, and that has taken some getting used to. The limited numbers I got (I forgot to take pictures again, DOH!) the dispersion with the pro white was only slightly better for me than that of the 125 Rogue. I had intentionally hit a few of each off the toe/heel to see how much that would mess with numbers and the Pro White was better for me in that regard in terms of dispersion, distance loss, and spin numbers.

Today I managed a session on a Flightscope launch monitor, firstly I would like to thank Richard Hughes at The Golf Centre, Coalville for allowing me use of his facilities which are first class.

Unfortunately the conditions weren't the best for testing hitting shots into a headwind of around 14mph, I still had the Flightscope set up to give real data and not normalised.

The shafts I were testing were an Aldila Rogue Silver 110 msi 70g stiff vs MRC Tensei CK Pro White 70g stiff vs MRC Tensei CK Pro Blue 70g stiff, all shafts when fitted into my Taylormade M2 9.5 degree driver played 45" long, the loft was set one notch higher so around 10 degrees of loft.

The ball used was a Nike 2 piece full flight range ball, (the pro stated that a premium ball would fly a little further and spin a little less).

 

I started the test with my Rogue shaft, please remember this is a human test and although I play off a handicap of 3 my strikes aren't always out of the middle but my swing is fairly consistent. My bad shot is a low pull hook with the occasional high block which I generally get after I over compensate the pull hook.

 

I will upload all pictures but as you can see there were some erratic shots in there low lefts with spin rates all over the place ranging from 1650 to over 5000. The headwind probably didn't help the spin numbers but as you can see difficult to game on the course.

 

Up next when Pro White

 

This had a much more consistent shot shape with a fairly predictable flight, the launch was a touch higher (1 degree) and the peak height was 26 feet higher, however I put this down to the fact the club face being closed with the Rogue.

The Pro White was much more stable at impact and felt firmer than the Rogue I think this is down to the materials used. The Pro White was much more smoother and generally gave me more clubhead speed and more distance.

 

Now onto the Pro Blue

 

Simply put this wasn't a good fit for me, the shaft is wonderfully smooth just like the White but I felt a bit more of a kick in the lower portion of the shaft which for me made timing the strike very difficult, my misses were both left and right launch and peak height was higher. This will be an interesting shaft to try in a 3 wood. The technology in this shaft makes it superb but unfortunately not a fit for my swing.

 

For me the Pro White is THE shaft, it's smooth but tight, dispersion has improved along with clubhead speed, distance and flight a win win I say.

Had a 36 hole matchplay competition today, wind was 14 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

Played well and won 6 and 5, Pro White shaft performed very well today, no ballooning into the wind, dispersion continues to impress.

Why would you want to go down 2 degrees with your launch? I'd suspect at your ball speed that launch is too low?

Figured I'd chime in here; being on vacation with the wife and little one doesn't afford time to golf, but I was able to squeeze in a round yesterday with the Pro White and wanted to share my initial thoughts. Driver I'm currently using is an M2, hot-melted to play to D4 @ 44.5" in all shafts. One thing I have noticed that a few others mentioned was the Pro White swing weighting out lighter, which translated to the head feeling heavier than I'm accustomed to with the Kuro Kage.

 

About me: 4HDCP and have been playing the game since my early teens after having given up playing hockey. Just about every friend or person I've come across when teeing up with them have made one comparison to my swing and I'm just fine with that; Jay Haas. Looks a little funny coming off the ball and at the top, but I'm in all the right positions coming into the ball and have little trouble finding the middle of the face and fairways. Best part of my game is inside 125 and around the greens--deadly with the flat stick. Swing speed for me tops out around 108 (without dislocating any vertebrae), but I try as much as possible to keep it in to the low 100's as that's where I feel most comfortable. I'm sorry I'm not in the 300 club like the vast majority I read about on the inter webs, but I do find it enjoyable when most of my 260/270 yard drives are in the fairway and I've got the extra time to help the 300+ find their drives in the bushes. :p

 

Initial impressions: LOVE the look in both the Pro White and Pro Blue; the less busy a shaft, the better. I'm all for funky colors as I find it exposes the true personality of a golfer, but the one thing I just cannot stand are the massive amounts of lettering some OEM's choose to use and find this to be a bit of an eye-sore. The carbon weave up top adds some character and when you are using it on a beautiful sunny day, the shaft just screams sexy. :) The swag in the box was a really nice touch by MRC (hat, toque, t-shirt and ball marker), but the biggest surprise was when I opened up with the box and found a second shaft inside. If I hadn't reached for the letter right after and read that this was part of the offer, I was about to pick up the phone and call them to let them know someone packed an extra shaft by mistake.

 

If I were to summarize the differences between the Pro White and Kuro Kage Silver I'm currently using, it would be this: an equal balance of stability and consistency, with the Pro White seeming to blend all of the qualities that the Kuro Kage and B series had to offer. On the range it took a bit of getting used to with the Pro White as I was comfortable with the Kuro Kage; but once I settled in and got into a groove it became apparent that the Pro White is a different beast. Ball flight was noticeably lower than the Kuro Kage; firmness up in the handle was more apparent (and must admit, I much prefer the profile in the Kuro Kage over the Pro White in this area), and the kick through impact was a lot tighter than the Kuro Kage. I've always had a low ball flight with the driver; -AoA and late release for me always translated into low-spinning drives and with the Pro White this was exaggerated even more. Teeing up the ball slightly higher than the KK and cranking the loft up from 9.5 produced a higher trajectory, and ball movement with my natural left to right appeared to be less noticeable and when the ball hit it just kept running. And like golfmadmayo and his testing with the Pro Blue, I too found it to be a bit too loose down below and after about 30 balls, just decided that I'd stick with a Pro White/Kuro Kage comparison for now.

 

Played the front 9 with the Pro White and the back with the KK and while I did find more fairways with the KK, I'm simply going to attribute this to my level of comfort with the KK as I really haven't given the Pro White enough of a chance. Overall the biggest difference for me with the Pro White was it felt much more stable than the KK from the mid-section down and anyone with an aggressive transition would probably notice the same thing. It's one of those shafts where you feel if you go after it, you won't be afraid to take out either side of the golf course; unlike the KK where it really forces me to be less deliberate and focus on maintaining my smooth transition.

 

I'm hoping to get in another round if I can--if not I'll be putting the Pro White through the paces on Trackman when I get back and will really see some real-time data to get a more accurate comparison.

I didn't test it for the site, but I've had one for months, and I can say definitively, YES. The second version of the profile, only out on tour, type 2 orange is even better. I was lucky enough to get one of those from a member of this site and it is amazing.

I definitely think so. More so, it's definitely worth whatever the upgrade price is when buying a new driver.

Fairways are always nice, but sometimes I really enjoy a nice walk in the woods to keep things interesting. Anything that makes the game more enjoyable is always worth it in my book

I can honestly say after having played 2 rounds with the Pro White and multiple range sessions with it, that I'm convinced MRC have hit the mark with this shaft and will be a winner when released. It took a bit of getting used to as it is a different profile from the mid-section up when compared to the Kuro Kage I'm currently gaming, but once I got the setting on my M2 and release dialed in this combo was a fairway finding machine for me. Beautiful fades ALL DAY LONG and only missed one fairway...my playing partners after 5 holes asked if they could give it a rip as they couldn't believe how well I was driving the ball. Mind you, the last half-dozen rounds or so for me I've been striking the ball beautifully from driver all the way down to the wedges; but for me the most temperamental club in the bag has always been the driver. As I said earlier I'm by no means in the "300 club" like many I read about online, but I can certainly put some heat on the driver when needed and I can't speak enough about the types and length of some of the drives I hit. Not to mention my M2 fairway being an absolute beast off the tee as well...but that's another thread.

 

When I first put the Pro White through the paces I was a bit frustrated as I wasn't liking how stiff it was up in the handle; but once I settled in and got things figured out it quickly changed my initial impressions. It's just one of those shafts that when in the hands of a player who truly understands "feel" and wants it to perform a certain way, that they know they can trust this shaft to do exactly what they want it to. Anytime I lined up and picked my target off the tee, I had ZERO hesitation just letting it go and man was I impressed. If I haven't mentioned the roll out I was getting with this shaft compared to the Kuro Kage, then I will. I can honestly say that it just felt like I was hitting the ball further with the Pro White and even my playing partners commented on this. Only true way to know is to put it head to head on Trackman, but for now I'll settle with the "feel good" of it all. :)

 

To note: I did have the Pro Blue with me in another head when playing and still am not as impressed with it as the Pro White--one of my buddies has asked if he can game it for a bit as he seemed to hit it really well so it's now in the hands of another club junkie for some fun. :) I find the Pro Blue to have just a bit too much kick down below for my liking--and I know most club techies don't like it when we use the term "kick", but for me it's just the easiest way to translate feel into words.

 

Hoping to get onto Trackman in the next week or so; the weather here has really turned something ugly. We had one of the best summers on record in as long as I can remember...we went from 90* weather to pants and long sleeves in the blink of an eye. We've got rain in the forecast until next week and appear to have some relief coming our way in terms of some sunshine and warmer temps. :)
