This picture in picture "playing through commercials" garbage is the most evil form of advertising that i could imagine. The golf is tiny and no sound. I totally miss everything that happens. I'd rather just watch commercials. I pray they don't make this standard for all tournaments. I have a bad feeling

We hate it, too. Didn't buy a 61" tv in order to watch an 18" picture with no sound. I can't concentrate on either picture.

 

Bugs me that they act like they're doing us a favor when, in reality, it's all about taking away the ability to DVR it and skip through the commercials.

Yeah but they don't revisit the stuff they show in picture in picture. I'd just miss it. They pretend like they're doing you a favor by showing you a tiny box of golf while they're force feeding you DL3 pamphlet commercials

There's a line. I wouldn't do anything for money. They're ruining the coverage.

I don't mind it, like others say, better golf than no golf if they must have commercials. I mute the announcers a lot of the time anyway. One of them called Rory's SW a "sand iron" earlier...painful

They haven't eliminated commercial breaks. They have regular commercial breaks and "play through commercial" breaks

I wouldn't mind it if they would go back to show a replay in full-screen of stuff that happened during the picture-in-picture.

 

Instead, we get back to full-screen and then hear the announcer say "as you saw during our Playing Through... Sergio stuffed it" with no replay.

Given the alternative of not seeing the golf, this is vastly superior.

 

I'd rather see a constant ad ticker on the bottom than the current TV paradigm.

Probably no discount; the trade off is that the millions who DVR can't fast forward through your spot.

There are only a handfull of matches. If not for "playing through", you would see these shots after the break. I say no to these playing through ads.

Are you serious? So you'd rather watch the same commercial you've seen probably a hundred times versus continuously watching the event where each shot could change the outcome of the match? I'd rather watch silent golf anytime there's a commercial... Except maybe when it's one of those "sexy" Carl's Jr ads (in Cali)

Maybe, but not by much. Coverage was pretty awful all well. The worst part was coverage started at say 12 on NBC, you didn't see any golf until 12:10 because they diddle around. Then you get 3 or 4 shots, then 6 minutes of commercials.

 

And they wonder why people are ditching cable TV.

I would rather watch the commercial than have the teensiest tiniest picture where I can't discern anything and not have the shots I missed covered. It is like having a naked supermodel on the other side of the room and someone standing in front of you telling you that you can't look. There is basically no point.
