Nike RZN stockpiling worth it?

The 2016 RZN TP is a fantastic ball - right there with the Pro V1X and B330S. Anyone that has never tried it doesn't know what they are missing (I picked up almost 30 dozen of them as they were being cleared out around where I live). There's a good reason why Rory McIlroy made sure to stock up on "...three year's worth..."!

I'm not stockpiling rzn anymore unless they are less than $15 a dz. fwiw, if you havent' tried the new ksigs, I'd recommend reading up on those and consider those as the RZN stockpile dries up.

I also have a bunch. Figured some would go up for sale at some point as well. Then again, they are an awesome ball to play, and once they are gone, they are gone.

Livestrong had an article about golf ball testing, and they made reference to a test where the recorded distance of Nike RZN Platinum was 18 YARDS SHORTER than just about any other ball (premium or not, but usually premium).

 

I now have reservations about purchasing them. Are they 18 yards shorter than other balls?

I don't know about 18 yards shorter

 

i've been having some back issues and they were at most 1/2 club shorter compared to TPX (15) but i don't think that was the ball. Also I didn't see any drives get lost in wind and I've hit some monsters out on the course with it off the tee. Also the wedge shots under 80 were on the dot

 

edit: I just googled up the article and read it and i don't think they're the same balls as the ones mentioned here

A Google search for that brings up articles from '13 and '14 - totally different balls they were comparing. The RZN TP is about identical to the 330S and V1X from what I've noticed. All the distances there were comparable.

Yeah, the 2016 platinum is the real deal. Rory wouldn't still be playing a ball that was 18 yards shorter than other top tier balls.

So don't worry about that.

What kind of deals are you seeing? I can't imagine stocking up on ANY ball that much as I don't see balls getting worse, but better over time.

I picked up 6 dozen when nike leaving golf business was announced but i wasn't expecting this many to be snatched so quickly.

I think the old wound balls did, not so much of a factor with the solid core ones however.

 

Put it this way, I've spent a lot of the summer using a dozen Tour Accuracy TW's I bought in 2004, with no loss in accuracy or distance.

 

Now they were also a fantastic ball, if I could find a way of stockpiling Tour Accuracy TW's I would be all over it.

That is awesome! And my wife thought I was crazy when I bought 10 dozen Slazenger Player 90's years ago. I still have some.

I'm hoping to pick up about 20 dozen Black volt over the winter. I'm hoping they get blown out somewhere where I can order them in Canada. $25 a box would do it for me.
