Mine also arrived today - V1X's, same as the the last 10-12 years, and will put one of them in play this Saturday during our club "Ryder Cup" event. It won't be a fair "test" for distance since its supposed to be a high 53 with rain possible, but will be able to get a feel for "feel", "flight", "spin", and "check". My normal balls I've played this year are Chrome Soft Truvis and Pro V1X.

For you guys wondering how to get in on this, create a "Team Titleist" account at Titleist.com, and when you put in your preferred ball during the registration, that is what they will generally send you. The timing just sucks for us Northeast coast guys who's season is already over or quickly coming to an end. If anyone from Titleist is watching, start sending these out in mid-late August if possible? It would give us a chance to test under normal playing conditions (75-80 degrees warm with firm fairways/greens vs. 50-65 degrees and soggy/aerated fairways/greens.

I played yesterday evening with a black numbered "test" ball. Played very much like the Pro V1 -- my current gamer -- in feel and distance. The first comment after playing 13 holes is that the ball looked brand new when finished. No marks on the cover and definitely as white as when l pulled it out the sleeve. The current ProV1 alway got real dingy after a single round, yet was perfectly playable otherwise. Other takeaways or comments is that it appeared to to fly a little higher coming off the club face, particularly irons, yet similar distance. Short game also seemed to have a little more back spin when comparing side by side, as the ball didn't release as far. This performance and limited release is very similar to the current Pro V1x. That is it for now. More to come.

To anyone wondering what these are, Titleist does this every year in the fall prior to the ball's retail release. The model you receive is based on the selection in your Team Titleist profile.

Fall of Even years = ProV1 (black number) and ProV1X (red number), retail release spring of odd years

Fall of Odd years = NXT Tour S (black number) and NXT Tour (red number), retail release spring of even years

I got mine Wednesday and had a chance to play them on Thursday. I noticed that they flew a little higher and were a little shorter than the Nike RZN Tour platinum that I usually play. I had also been playing ProV1's and thought they were shorter and higher flying than those. Now the weather was about 50 degrees and a little windy. I really noticed the difference with the driver, but the irons wasn't as bad.

Played a full round today with a test ball. Red numbers. Seemed just like an x to me. Maybe a tad more spin if anything. Can't tell on distance since it was only 70 in Ohio today and a little breezy

Mine came last week, black number so I assume Pro V1. Took them out for a quick 9. It was unexpectedly windy, over 25 mph at times so that was kind of a bummer. But it provided valuable insight. I played it side by side next to the Supersoft, my ball almost exclusively for the last 3+ years and the Chrome Soft, which is a ball I've been testing to see if I want to make a switch. The good thing was the spin off wedges and low irons was insane with the test ball. And it felt solid but not too hard off the putter. Held the green nicely on most shots and felt decent off the tee. The biggest issue I had was it by far performed the worst of the 3 in the wind. The Chrome Soft was the best, bore through the wind and held it's line pretty tight. The Supersoft was really ballooning in the wind, so lost distance, but generally held it's line. The Titleist was getting blown all over the place. I am a lefty, so anything into the strong wind that was close to a draw was getting pushed into a big hook, way off line. I didn't have my best stuff today and I lost two of them (one got blown really far offline and went OB, un-retrievable, other was a victim of the leaves.) I want to take it out in calmer conditions and see how it performs.

I got mine today also. Red numbers and plastic feel. I normally play Chrome Softs and also proV1's at times. I have always got ProV1's to test in the past. I guess they thought my game wasn't good enough for Prov1's this time. I would say that I got NXT's. That's OK, I appreciate getting free golf balls anytime. Plan to try them out tomorrow. Thanks Titleist.

Played the red numbers (ProV1x) on Monday. Here's my brief thoughts:

Driver flight was definitely more penetrating than the '13 and '15 versions. Great feel on chips and putts. I noticed no difference in spin though. Durability was really good, but I'm not too surprised since Titleist has made big strides in that area with the past few generations.

Got red numbers to test.

Full review to follow after this weekends round.

Initial thoughts:

- Slightly softer off putter

- MUCH firmer off EVERY other club in the bag; wedge through driver (not at all happy about this)

- Appears to launch lower and be a couple yards longer than 15 V1x

This is after messing around for about 30 minutes on the hole I live on.

Feels like older V1x models, I don't like that, others will love it.

I really like the '11 V1x so hoping to like these too. I got a sleeve of red numbers but the weather here in NJ is awful so I don't see myself playing them until I go to Florida in a couple weeks. I'll be testing them against the '13 V1x and B330.

I got picked to be a part of the Titleist test panel when I lived in northern VA - 2012 - and I remember really liking that ball.

Received a sleeve of black numbers Monday and played 18 yesterday. More of a muted sound off the putter than previous ProV1's. Durability was an improvement as I usually cut up a ProV with one strong wedge shot. Not these. Seemed to have less spin off the driver than previous, but solid spin with short irons/wedges. Touch firmer than 2016 CS but played identical in every way other than that. Durability was the main thing to stand out.

After 9 it only had one small cut from a 115 yard 50* bd594c3939a892c389eb1e1accedb629.jpg
