Warrick's WITB - Titleist takeover?

Recommended Posts

M1 430 is LONG but so unforgiving haha. I tried one with 8.5* of loft and it was hilariously hard to play. Kirkland ball is getting some legit feedback I'm going to try it at some point just to see for myself.

76-76 was a solid finish to the season this weekend. I don't keep an official index, but guessing I moved to a single digit this season. I do have tee times for Wednesday and Thursday morning to try and get 2 last rounds in, high's are in the 40's for the weekend.

Definitely be playing the Truvis or Kirkland next season TPX and TM are out.

I did not think I could love my 3 wood anymore than I do, but it was just stellar yesterday off the tee box, club is just money.

Best buys of the season:

Pistol GT 2.0

T7 wedges

Nike FI Premiere golf shoes

Biggest regrets

Trading SZ to try TM M drivers

not ordering 900 Tour's with 130x Ctaper

Time to get the net set up for the winter and bash on the new Z945's. I figure if I sit and thump a 945 4 iron all winter, anything will seem easy come Spring

Yep, looks like today and tomorrow is it. It looks like I will be lucky enough to test a few last things over the last 2 days.

Z945 set is in for today's round, will have the Marxman Tank and 9* 816 DBD head delivered today, so those will get a shot on the final day tomorrow.

While the MP5 are sitting on the sidelines like Tom Brady at the beginning of the season. You can start calling the 945 "the Garoppolos".

Nice analogy. That is what has happened several times this season. The 5's have never been out for more than 18 holes. I feel like 18 holes with a set of irons tells me what I need to know, or at least if they need more testing. I planned on takin 2-3 clubs to hit, but screw it, put the whole set in, see how they are.

Oh crap, did not expect these irons to be this spectacular. Holy sh!t!

Amazing feel, spot on distances with my 5's, S300's were pleasantly surprising, great ball flight, nice and heavy. These 945's are the real deal. A pure steal at that price, definitely keepers. The 9-P look better than the Mizuno actually.

I am not saying they have taken the spot, they do get to go again tomorrow for the final round of the season, which is more than I can say for anything else i have hit. If nothing else, pretty solid backup set. The v-sole seems to work well for me, took a bit shallower divots today.

I hit 8 iron on 1, 3, and 4 to 15ft, 6ft, and 12ft respectively and was 2 down through 4, made a few dumb mistakes, lost a tee ball, still a solid 75 (3 putt also).

I could grab either set and just go. I did not bring the 4 iron, never had to hit 5 today.

Srix's have been getting a lot of press as of late. I may have to resist the Titleist urge and check them out.

Pleasantly surprised, never thought a chance on something challenging the 5's.

Watch TGW in the coming days, may drop back under $400.

I get one more round in with em today, then weather drops off the cliff.

Hi Warrick, didn't you follow up on 900 tours? I put the trigger on 900 tours with Nippon Modus 105 X and LOVE them. I'm coming from MP-5 with Nippon 1150 S. They are also superb but love the Modus shaft more!

I sold em after 18 holes, wrong shaft for me. I can't stop thinking about how good they look. If I ever dump this M1 430, going to buy 1-2 clubs with my shaft and test again. They flow so nicely with the T7's, and just loved the look of the 9-P, which is what i would most likely try again...

I may even list my 945's on the BST to try them again. It is the one thing I tested this year that i can't stop thinking about.

Got in 18 today, although really windy, had a few bad holes but decent overall, hit the driver really well with the Rogue. The new Kirkland ball is solid, does not seem quite as durable as the TPX but a good ball, will definitely play the ones I kept (gave a sleeve to each of the guys in my group today).

No bag changes, 945's are a back up set, great sticks, just not MP5's, I am just loving the 816 DBD, and the Rogue I/O 60 seemed to work really well for me.

This will be the bag I start 2017 with, not much desire to test anything else, kinda grew a bit tired of tinkering and not having my "gamers" in the bag at all times. I have never really done it before this season much, think I got my fill.

I do have a Marxman Tank at Continental getting redone, as long at is a face balanced odyssey tank mallet, I am pretty much good.

I did just get the net and mats set in the garage, and the Big Moss is rolled out in my basement, time to get some practice and gym work in for a few months.

Have to say yes on that. If it it is any sort of competitive round, would go straight to the TM TPX. I was fortunate to stock up a bit, have about 9 dozen (TPX).

I am sure you have access to the ball if you want, if not shoot me $5 for shipping and I will send you a sleeve if interested. That is, if you have any golf left this season.

Simply, I like the TPX better than any other ball out right now. It seems to have less spin off the driver than ProV1x, and seems more durable. My buddy plays the 330, solid ball but just did not seem to like the feel as much, seemed a touch clickier to me.

I have dabbled with the Truvis also, which seems solid.

I want to try the new Chromse Soft X as well. I love Callaways performance in the wind but they currently don't offer a ball at retail that works for me.

Have to agree, the TPX is my favourite ball as well. Won't be able to try the Kirkland ball until they sell in Canada. A long off-season ahead!

As much as I like what I have, just have to accept the fact that I like to tinker, guess it adds another aspect to the game, which is good (maybe bad) in the winter. It took me a long time to grow up, get a real career, and actually be able to buy stuff, so I am having some fun.

New additions for testing:

BB Mini 1.5, with KK Tini- set to 13*(D) with a few strips of lead on the sole. I need it re-gripped, may go to the simulator this weekend.

5-P JPX 900 Forged - C-Taper 130 - 1up - NDMC grips (ordered yesterday as a swap out for the 945's I sold). As a guy that plays to about 8-9, do I really need 2 sets of blades? No! These have slightly jacked lofts, but my little a-- could use an extra half club. I am not sure they will beat out the 5's, but will most assuredly take the backup spot, we shall see.

God forbid I try and make the game a touch easier....

I prefferred the 5s in the end over the 945s(went through 2 sets), and the jpx tour just never came off right...might have been the nm 105 shaft (didny seem to work for the iblade either), but the 5s are gonna be my set for the next season...i just wish i stuck with them sooner.

Yeah, they will be tough to unseat from the bag, just a great set of irons. I did not get on well with the 900 Tour either, figure I can at least check out the 900F and see how they are.

Well, these are going right in the bag for Spring. I have hit about 100 balls in the garage with the 5 and 7 iron, that is enough to know they are getting the gamer slot to start 2017.

Great looking iron at address and all around, feel fantastic, love the satin. I did not expect the 900F to be such a good looking compact head.

Just lovely....

I'm excited to see how the JPX compare to your MP5s over time. As an MP5 player myself it makes me just a little sad to see those blades leave the gamer bag though.
