I recently purchased a "caddy" bag from Japan. My understanding is that it is a full-size top and is slightly smaller than traditional staff bags.

I had been using a Ping Hoofer for as long as I can remember, but the midsize grips I've been using make it difficult to get the clubs in and out of the bag.

I don't really carry, but if I do walk, I have a cart.

Also have a full-size staff bag for extra clubs in the house.

I had a beautiful Armour 845 Silverback stand bag back in the mid-2000s that succumbed to a bored dog in the garage on a rainy night. I've had stand bags since then, but just picked up a beautiful 2010 Mizuno Staff Bag, like new (paper and airbags still in the pockets) for $80 from a local club pro. I probably won't keep it since I've recently started walking with a push-cart, but man it's pretty...

I do like the look/size of the Caddy Bag... if they weren't a JDM thing (with the associated cost of getting one into the US) I'd consider it, but I'll probably stick with cart/stand unless a deal presents itself.

I just bought a Tour Edge cart bag from PGA Tour Store for 50 dollars before Christmas. It looks like a staff bag, just a little smaller. So I don't know if it qualifies? For now I use it as a storage bag for all my odd clubs. Not sure if I will ever use it for my play set. The bag I have is getting a little flimsy. Oh I could never put my name on my bag. But I don't care what others do. I will say more than a bag, what gets me is the golfer who dresses like the pro. And I mean it can be 95 and he is wearing slacks. I sure wouldn't say anything but to myself I can't help a "really"?

IMO, every single one of the staff bags in the link below are awesome!

http://www.titleist.co.kr/golf-gear/bags-landing

Why aren't lighter weight/smaller staff bags available here in the US? I would have absolutely bought one by now. The Midsize staff bag that Titleist offers here in the US is very bland compared to these Korean offerings. Does Titleist not think we care about style as much as the Koreans? What does it take to get a damn leather staff bag that isn't bulky around here??!!?

Ok, rant over, but seriously, looks like I'll have to figure out how to order from Korea/Japan

I have a Bridgestone Staff Bag from the 2014 US Open but it's not my primary bag. I really use it for golf events and storing all my putters when it's not in use. It's a bit impracticable for the regular 9/18 hole rounds.

I can't speak on Whistling Straits, but many courses that employ caddies will empty the contents of your staff bag into a small, light-weight carry bag.

Most of the caddies on these courses carry two bags at a time and want to keep them as light as possible. Carrying staff bags would kill them.

Haha I'm assuming this is a joke...

When I used to caddy I hated when guest with staff bags showed up. The one positive was it meant a light bag (because we obviously empty their clubs into a light stand bag and would only allow them to bring the absolute essentials)... but generally it meant you were lugging sticks for a total hack. Once in a while someone surprised me and ended up being good. But mostly it was just old dudes who were total hacks that showed up with staff bags.

I don't knock anyone for using them. Use what you like. But I personally hate them.

That's my memory from caddying as well. It got to the point where our head pro told the caddies to dump clubs in a Ping Hoofer instead of lugging their bags around.

I find staff bags impractical -- but I'd never tell another man how to spend his own money.

these types of topics always amaze me and cause me to ask this one, simple question...

WHY DO YOU CARE IF SOMEONE _____________________?

a) plays blades and has a 12 Hdcp

b) carries a staff bag and shoots in the 90's

c) has a circle T putter

d) has "tour issue" equipment

fill in the blank with your ridiculous example.

Get over it. If we all did everything like you do, used your accepted clubs, etc., it would be one BORING world.

amen.

Yes but if having a staff/tour bag didn't wind people up, life would be slightly less fun.

I don't care if you carry your clubs in a 55 gallon drum as long as you're not a arrogant jerk and take yourself too serious. I play to have fun. That's kind of the idea of golf isn't it?
