These irons look great.

I am intrigued by the Power Spec option, since it allows one to increase the loft spread among the irons, allowing one to save a spot in the bag for another club.

Regarding the Power Spec option, does anybody know whether that option will keep the same bounce and offset numbers as the "regular" i200 options? Normally, strengthening lofts on irons will decrease offset and bounce. I am wondering if the Power Spec i200 irons will simply be bent "regular" i200 irons, or if they will be separately manufactured to have the same bounce and offset specs as the "regular" i200.

Will the Power Spec i200s be marked in some way to show them as having the "Power Spec" (I hope not, since that would be counter to the nice clean look of the irons).

I am also assuming that the two options could be combined, into something like 5-9 Power Spec and PW-GW regular, which would have the PW loft at 45* and the GW loft at 50*, giving a loft spread of 25* - 50* in 5-GW

Very good questions. One thing I noticed that you said "Normally, strengthening lofts on irons will decrease offset and bounce." I pretty sure that offset increases when you strengthen and decreases when you weaken. You are correct that bounce will decrease as you strengthen. However, these are great questions and I'm interested in knowing this as well.

I change too much to list it. Working on that...

This is off the website, if what they say is right, the bounce should stay the same.

  • Power Spec: A fitting option for players looking to boost their iron distance or decrease spin to hit a desired trajectory window. The Power Spec is a custom-designed loft configuration that delivers a power boost in a calculated fashion without sacrificing the integrity of the club’s design.

Any pictures of the long irons at address? I'm hoping they appear to be slightly less offset than in the past. I love the looks of these. It appears they've got plenty of elastor behind the face to make them drastically more forgiving.

Wow! Looking for new irons in '17 and there are many options.

Love the sole and bounce. Leading edge too. These clubs should have great turf interaction. The business about the high MOI caught my attention too. Sounds like a great package.

Why do you say that, Nessism? What kind of conditions do you play in?

I just ordered mine with the "Bounce" grind.

Did you get to hit them off the turf yet? That would be the decider. I never go off of Pings bounce numbers because they seem to play different for me than what is stated.

Those are the best pictures I've seen of them. Thanks! Right now I'm thinking I'd do the Power Specs and weaken them slightly to take even more offset out. Good stuff!

I love bounce Brian, and a rounded leading edge. My local course is muddy seemingly all the time and bounce keeps the club from digging if you get steep or hit behind the ball a little. I've never found a situation where bounce causes issues, even hitting off tight lies.

Oh, and that Power Spec bending will reduce the bounce a little. These clubs got plenty so it won't even be noticeable so no worry.

I play VERY tight fairways. I have a combo set of S55/I20's and use them in Florida where it's not so tight. Back home, I play different set of irons because of the very tight fairways. If I played in "muchk", I'd probably leave the bounce alone :)

I didn't order the "Power Spec", I spec'd the length, loft, lie and swingweight I wanted, for each individual club.

I've ordered from PING before and if spec the Swingweights & length individually, I can pretty close to an MOI match and not worry about.

Speaking of which, you don't have any interest in buying a MOI Auditor, do you? I'm moving and clearing out my cellar.

Thanks!

Thanks for thinking of me Brian but please don't tempt me with any more toys. I'm happy with my current understanding of what build specs work for me and I'm standing pat. No really! I mean it this time!

Take care, Ed.

BTW, your PM box must be filled because I tried to send you one and it bounced.

I just watched Shiels review of the I200's. All I can say is wow! PING has created a beautiful golf club, that yes looks like some other offerings. But I have read numerous pages of people revering the S55 irons. I believe PING has taken the aesthetics from the beloved S55 and packed it into a wonderful GI iron. I myself can't wait to demo the I200, and look forward to hearing the thoughts of others who have tested the iron.

Hit these today at the store. Felt great so I ordered a set (purple dot). I liked the stock shaft as well curious about the AMT 2.0

I like the blade length and overall foot print. Offset was minimal but I only hit the 7 iron

Here are some pics I took vs the IBLADE. Pretty close IMO

Assuming you've hit the iblades, how did they compare?

Didn't hit the iblade. These are just the look and size I was looking for so might as well go for easier to hit. I don't mind a little forgiveness I just don't like extra long blade length's. These are just right IMO. Nice and compact with the tech and forgiveness hidden. I really liked the feel of the stock PING AWT 2.0 shafts, really nice feel and kick. I read they were made by Nippon so not surprisng.
