Rosco1216’s 2022 WITB, new(old) irons set for the year!

What's up WRX,

 

I noticed it has been almost 2 years since I've done a WITB so figured I'd update.

 

So here is what I've put together..

 

Driver: 2016 Tour Issue M2 set at 7.4*, XPHLEXXX Agera 76g X tipped 1.5", D6 SW 44.5"

--Just picked up this head last month and still getting it dialed in but love it so far. Head weight was 192g without adapter and j have replaced the screw and added 5 grams of lead tape on the bottom to get the swingweight up to where i want it. Will eventually get it hotmelted.

 

Farirway: Callaway XR pro 16*, Elements Chrome 8F5T tipped 2.5", D4, 42.25"

--Love this thing. Went with a 16* simply for gapping and bring down the distance a bit but i still hit it as far as most 13-15* 3 woods so will be doing some adjusting.

 

Irons: 3i: Bridgestone J40DPC - PX 7.0 non-flighted w/sensicore insert. Bridgestone J15CB - Nippon Modus 120TX w/sensicore inserts(lamkin UTx grips) D3-D5 3i -PW, +1/2"

--These have been in the bag for 2 years and doubt will go anywhere too soon except for the 3i. After my trackman fitting i have some gapping adjustments to do. Carry with 5i is 225, 4i 235 and 3i 245 and then 4w off turf carry is 290. Will probably strengthen the 4i and drop the 3i and pick up a utility(srixon or cobra) iron to be a 250-260 club.

 

Wedges: Bridgestone J40 black oxide 52* and 58* x100's, D6, +1/2"

--only playing this combo until spring when i can fully test new wedges and will go back to my 50-55-60* setup. Only playing 13 clubs currently

 

Putter: Odyssey Versa Works 1W

--will probably be doing an Edel fitting over the winter so this will change.

Sick bag. Those are all some beasty shafts especially when you have tipped them that much. the 915f is a great head and I really want to try the modus 120. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Kali. Each head has 4-5 grams hotmelt as well. The chrome is a solid shaft but wanted it as stable as possible. Really liking the 915F so far. I use to play an 8.2x TS speeder tipped the same in an old 3 wood and loved it but was too light for my liking and i had 9 grams of lead tape down the under side of the shaft. Personally i like my woods(especially fairway woods) to be as heavy, stiff and anti-left as possible.

I've only hit it about 10 times so far but I like the results. It is heavy and stout but that is the feel and I want. I strictly use it off the tee as there is very rarely a time that I have 3 wood distance into a hole on the courses I regularly play. Smooth 3-wood shaft for me equals thoughts of going left if I release it.

well unfortunately I'm going to have to re-do everything and build them all over again. The epoxy I ordered from golfsmith didn't hold up. Even the extensions I had to put in were twisting and yes I prepped everything well. My 3i and 3 wood I put together with some epoxy I got at Lowe's have been holding up fine for a week.

[/quote]Did you use that black epoxy they have? That stuff takes for ever to harden I have used it in the past never had a failure though. Most of the time I use the Loctite brand epoxy that I get at Home Depot never have had any problem with it and it sets in 12 hours. That Golfsmith stuff I used took 24 sometimes longer to set

Preciatd it! They are back 9 headcovers. Only $15-$20 i believe. Ill be regripping stuff this spring and probably go with mcc+ grey.

playing just a 52* and 58* right now until this spring when the weather allows for a proper wedge fitting. J40 is/was a grat line.

Have done some changing around with the top end of the bag. Dropped the j40 3i and bent my j15 4i 2* strong and picked up this guy. Played with it yesterday with the stock rogue 85 stiff and this thing is stupid easy as a driving iron, which is what I got it for. I just put the fuel 95 x shaft in it last night so that will tighten up the spin and launch a bit. But this thing is not leaving the bag. Almost not even fair.

 

Still have a fairway to figure out. Thinking cobra 4-5. Want something in the 17* range for gapping and like a little larger cc head something around 170ish.

Couple updates to the top end..

 

I've done tons of shaft tinkering with the utility but finally think I have it dialed in. I finally found a 4-5 cobra head new for a good price. I've hit the 3-4 multiple times but truthfully need the 4-5 loft. Rain has prevented me from hitting outside this week but I've been looking for this head for a long time.

And bottom end..

Cleveland HB #10 custom, 68* lie 1* loft, 30 tour lock gram grip weight 3.5" insertion depth. I did a full Edel fitting and I got fit into a putter exactly like this one same head, head weight, offset, toe hang, alignment aid. Figured I'd try the $100 option first instead of the $500 edel.

Yes it's treating me well. It's my 5th shaft I've had (original rogue 85s, fuel 95x, px 6.5, Modus 120tx hard stepped). I wanted the low launch and dispersion of the steel shafts I'm used to but in a lighter weight range. Had this one lying around tried it first with .5" tipping and an inch longer than my 4i but felt a little loose and light. I tipped it another inch to 1.5" total and put 2 sensicore inserts as far down as I could and now the weight and feel is what I wanted and the performance is exactly what I was looking for.

New o-works 3T. 360g headweight. 35". New jumbo black Winn AVS. Oh and got a decent head cover because the mallet headcover that came with it was hideous.

Picked up this immaculate set of raw adams mb2’s. Most heads don’t even look hit. Got super peening blue shafts coming in for them next week and then I’ll put them together as soon as time will allow! Should be a fun build.
