i also hit the 105 in stiff and Project X LZ 5.5 with the 900 Forged. I had similar results in that the 105 felt lighter, higher ball flight and spin. Don't know if it was the weight, but the Project X LZ (115g. ) felt really good.

For me lz had a more stout tip but a pronounced kick of the shaft. The modus 105 launched higher but did not balloon. I think the lz would be better for a more aggressive swing tempo due to the stiffer tip section. I lost the modus to the left more consistently.

This recap was done a few months ago but might be of some help hopefully.

We had a quick analysis done with the Hot Metal vs. the Forged a few weeks ago, (see below). Overall we are seeing great results with the LZ shaft / forged head combo from other players trying it also. I think you definitely have a great setup. I personally have the C Taper Lites, and if I was going to change, the LZ's would definitely be on the top of my list. Good Luck and have fun.

First up was the 6I hot metal with the modus 120 stiff.

84 Mph club head

115 ball speed

20.6 * launch

6652 spin

160.4 carry

47-52* landing angle

109' height

Next 6I forged with same shaft

85 club head

117 ball speed

19.4* launch

6332 spin

164.4 carry

47-51 land angle

105 height

Also I have seen a few requests for info on project X LZ so same player with 900 forged and 6.0 shaft

85 club head

116.8 ball speed

19.5 launch

6280 spin

164.5 carry

105 height

Averages were based upon 8shots with each club. Any shot widely outside the averages were not counted. Data from trackman on an indoor session. Golfer is a mid 50's player with handicap in the 6-7 range. Overall impressions were positive for both heads.

Older thread, but wondering if any more feedback on Modus 105 vs LZ? I demoed a set of 900 Hot Metals with Modus 105 R flex for 18 holes. Loved the irons from the 4i to 7i, but the shorter irons seemed to spin too much and I had a hard time controlling them (was windy).

Was wondering if Project X LZ would lower launch a touch, and also if any feedback on 5.0 vs 5.5 flexes?

Played R 105's and now 5.0 LZ..... much more consistent particularly in wind and the feel is amazing!

Great, thanks for the info! Did you notice the weight increase? Coming from DG Pro so a little heavier than 105 R would be good for me.

110g but a different kick.....LZ clearly better....slightly lower, laser straight and incredible feel.... dg pro is a 3 in 1 set....not comparable

Any chance you were contemplating 5.0 vs 5.5? I know it's all relative to what you're used to but I'll ask anyways- would you consider the 5.0 a 'normal' regular flex, or is it soft for an R?

Pro X/LZ are a tad stiffer than some. 5.0 would be a 'normal' R vs. softer. Go check out their website and You Tube for reviews. ;)

i also hit the 105 in stiff and Project X LZ 5.5 with the 900 Forged. I had similar results in that the 105 felt lighter, higher ball flight and spin. Don't know if it was the weight, but the Project X LZ (115g. ) felt really good.

Anxious to know any final thoughts. I was sold (I thought) on the P790s with Modus 105 S (considering soft step 1X) but then I hit the JPX 900 forges with Project X LZ 5.5 (a total accident by the way) and simply crushed it. It was the first combo that beat the 790s and I got better launch and spin. Love to know where you landed. thanks,

I think you have your answer....you beat out the P790 in terms of launch and spin with the 900 forged. If it worked better for you why do you need some random internet dude who likely swings absolutely nothing like you to verify your results with what he thought when he tried them?

Ive got a set of Z765s with the Modus 105 s in them and a set of Rogue Pros with the PX LZ 105 5.5, made for Cally, but according to True Temper they are the same profile as their 115 5.5, just lighter.

I think the Modus has a lower flight and "denser" feel than the LZ, and the LZ seems to load a bit easier. I also have a Cally X forged 7iron with the Modus 120 in it and it is a bit more lively that the modus 105, and launches a bit higher.

Overall, I feel thought the LZ had the most pronounced kick that was easy to load, followed by the modus 120, and lastly the 105.

Just depends on your swing characteristics.
