SM6 Wedges

I am about to pull the trigger on new SM6 wedges. Going with 50,56,62. My question is which finish looks best chrome or black? Also do you think there is a feel difference between the two? Spin difference? Grooves last longer? ETC. im also torn on whether to get the 56 in S grind or F grind so feedback would be great on that too!!

Grind is such a personal thing, I won't even bother to give you blind advice. I went with the black finish, which is in direct contrast to my super shiny MP-5's. When I replace them, I'll be going chrome. The black finish has worn right off the sole and (thankfully) the sweet spot. I'm not a huge fan of that "built in alignment aid. They all wear if you practice with them enough, but it seems like the finish came off the black almost immediately.

I agree with the black vs. chrome statement above. Also, there is no difference between the two with spin and groove durability.

Black looks awesome, and if they were just for hanging on the wall, I would go with the black. But chrome is the choice if you're gonna game them for more than a season.

I have two rounds now with chromes and these wedges just perform! Feel better than the Cally MD2's that are forged.

I have a 56 in black and really like it. I have a sm4 60 deg in chrome that i only use sometimes and the glare on that club is terrible maybe the sm6 is better.

I prefer black all the way. I have played them stripped and also as-is (what I'm doing now). The contrast to my t-mb's is fantastic. Fwiw- I have a true raw sm5 from wedgeworks and it does feel a little less harsh than the sm4 oil can that I stripped.

But it's all personal preference. That's why vokeys are the best!

Black looks awesome new, my chromes look better being gamed. Grind is dependent on your turf conditions and swing.

Been using vokeys since the SM1 and oilcan/black stripped to raw steel is the best way IMO. No glare and no ugly wear patterns:

I have 50, 54, 58.

F grind in 50, S in 54 and 58. I tried various grinds (not F) in the 54 and 58 and S worked best for me. There are a couple others you should try to see what's best for you.

Depends on what you are going to do with 54, and it's very individual, but F seems limiting to me.

Chrome, no glare, no rust, no wear.

Third on the steel grey, definitely the sleeper finish with these. Perfect combo between the black and chrome. I had the black in my SM5's and prefer the steel grey. The steel has slight luster to it that doesn't bother me in the sun and doesn't wear like the black does.

Agree 100%. Tried both finishes at a recent fitting and loved the look of the steel grey. Ordered 50.12 F, 54.08 M and 58.08 M. Can't wait for them to arrive. Been gaming my current vokey wedges since 2006. It was time for an upgrade!

Just ordered an SM6 V grind in oil can off Wedgeworks. What do you recommend for stripping?

I've used a few different things but distilled white vinegar and scotch brite pads seems to leave the best result. Naval jelly is the fastest but seems to affect the finish of the steel sometimes. Coke can work but takes a lot longer in my experience.

M grind 54, L grind 58 in black. I actually like the contrast between the wear on the sole/face compared to the rest of wedge, but that's just me.

Get fit for the wedges. I tried different bounces with full and half shots. For me, the lazy half swings benefited from more bounce as my miss was a bit chunky. Like all the other clubs here, get fit! Nothing more annoying than hitting a great drive and missing the chance for taking advantage with a good wedge shot. F, F and S for me.
