I could probably rack my brain for a bunch of great performances, but the most recent one that comes to mind is Rickie Fowler at the Players. Those three shots to the 17th in the final round were amazing.

I get it's the 17th in a very high pressure situation, but I'm pretty sure he hit wedge all three times. That has to bring it down a notch on the greatness scale, right?

Langer in the 80's-90's. Razor sharp. All the time. But the putting was not-exactly of the same quality. No wonder he is reluctant to change anything with his long putter nowadays...

I'd have to give my vote to Kim Jung Jue of North Korea. Heard he had 18 hole-in-ones, and all in the same round. Pretty tough to top that.

But then he followed those wedges up with quality high draws on 18, tight to the water, when everyone else was taking 3 wood. Definitely some of the best high pressure ball striking I've seen.

PGA Tour Classic was on there on Sky with David Duval's 59, I know it's a dead easy low scoring tournament but still talk about laser sharp irons, all his birdie putts seem to be from beside the hole.

Duval's 59. Of his 11 birdies and 1 eagle, those amounted to 52 total feet of putts. Talk about knocking it stiff!

Tiger- 2nd round 89th PGA Championship in 2007. 63 with a putt for 62 on 18 (par 70)

That day it was close to 100 degrees.

Tiger in 97. What he did to that course and that field was incredible. He was a rookie who made tour veterans look like juniors off the tee in comparison.

Not maybe a "through all times" performance, but I wanted to mentioned South African Jaco van Zyl in this thread and the display he put on in Qatar. Very hard wind conditions but he missed nothing. A little harder times on the green, but his play from tee to green was really spectacular today. And that with one of the smoothest swings in the business.

Tiger at the 06 open. Imho. Louis at the open he ran away with was pretty amazing as well.

Stenson at least year's Open was nothing short of amazing. It's hard to pick

one performance over the other when you're looking at the very best but with

Michelson pushing him and the rest of the field in the dust Henrik just kept

hitting one great shot after another.......and the pressure was enormous since

he was yet to win a major and was one of THOSE guys who just couldn't

get it done when he was in the hunt....until that last day.

I believe Darren Clarke tells a story of when he played Tiger in the final of Match Play ..

 

They are warming up on the range, and when Tiger leaves, Darren looks over and notices that Tiger never took a divot ..

 

There was a patch of grass on the range cut lower than the rest, all the same length - where Tiger was warming up

Wedgy Winchester on the range doing a Moe Norman impression. For those of you that do not know Wedgy he won the long drive competition in the late 80's, early 90's. Before it became the big thing it is today. He had the best hand eye coordination I have ever seen. Played with him one time and he was using a 60" driver-yes 5 feet.

So we are on the range one day and he is doing his Moe Norman impression with the sing songy voice and hitting one irons. But not just hitting one irons-he is scraping each ball into the most hideous range lie divot you could imagine and striping one iron after one iron. I was scratch at the time and could not imagine being able to get a 9 iron airborne from those lies.

How about Rory at Kiawah, he was hitting that driver so good it seemed he was just swinging it as hard as he could, and it was just on a rope everytime...

I started watching full rounds and tournaments of golf only since 2009. Stenson has made my top two.

 

Stenson 2013 World Tour Championship Dubai & 2016 Open Championship. With 2013 getting the nod if I

had to pick between the two. These two are so far ahead of any other performances I've watched. Just fairway's and darts to pins. 2016 in tough conditions. 2013 wrapped up both FedEx and Race to Dubai in same year.

 

I'd also throw in there Dustin Johnson at 2016 US Open (especially the final round with the distractions, his knowing his past failures to close, etc). DJ's driver that weekend was the best I've ever seen. Sill am in awe.

 

 

Youtube has allowed me to watch TONS of Tiger highlights from before to catch up, but just not the same as actually watching them fully as they happen. From what I gather, 2006 British Open was special (but he just used irons all weekend). Also heard several times 2007 Oakmont was a clinic as well.

If I remember correctly when DD shot 59 his longest birdie putt was eight feet. That's just crazy.
