It would be great if he played a bit more, I think he really enjoyed the Open last year.

Glad he's back with Mizuno too :-)

Golf Digest had a piece posted on Twitter on the clubs they are making him for the Masters par three contest. Said he is rejoining them as a brand ambassador. Really interesting little read. He talks about while he was still with Wilson that Mizuno made his irons with no stamps and how he built his sets himself. According to the article he walked out the tour van with:

Mizuno H5: 3-5

Mizuno MP5: 6-W

Mizuno S5 Wedges: 51,55,60

Yep, once an MB player, still an MB player. The MP5's are fantastic.

I wouldn't say using the h5 in 3-5 iron is a MB player.. in fact if sir nick doesn't use blades in all his irons, how can amatuers expect to play their best with them???

Good to see him back with Mizzy again

What's he going to do with them, have them sitting beside him in the announcer booth? Doesn't seem like he plays enough to make much difference who he's "sponsored" by.

He probably plays occasionally, it's more that he will talk about them more if he's sponsored by them, this will probably do more for the sales than players using them.

He for sure played his best golf with mizuno. I think in 97 when tiger won the masters with mizuno mp 29 he was also playing them and I believe his final win was the mp 29 irons at riviera, but a year or so later changed to ping eye 3 blades and his game went south ever since.

Tiger won with MP-29 2,3,4 & MP-14 5-PW. Faldo played with TP-19's.

Anyone know what mizuno driver this is?

It's a Mizuno Pro persimmon. I'm not sure of the model number, they made quite a few over the years. I think they made World Masters and Mizuno Pro woods throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but the one in the picture is a Pro. Sir Nick changed clubs on occasion for promotional videos. Especially if they were going to be featured prominently.

In high school when I was playing every day I used MP-14s. Then I grew up and realized I wasn't good enough to play blades anymore ? Man I did love those clubs though. They were the essence of what a golf club should be.

Reviving a thread about Faldo's sticks, just to make an irrelevant statement about mizuno blades.... sounds about right for a Tar Heel fan lol

Tiger switched to Titleist copys of his Mizuno Irons at some point during 97

I'd love to see him play more.

Was hoping to see him during the PNC, but media coverage for that event is subpar.

He is playing next week in the South African Open, he is playing 5 European Tour events around the World this season.

China Open, SA open next week, Open Champs, French open and one other to be named.

Saw him on tv this morning, Seemore mallet putter, a cavity back iron looked like JPX forged, Bridgestone ball. Only watched 3 holes.

I recently saw the 1997 Shell's Wonderful World of Golf match with Faldo and Lehman. Faldo was utter rubbish. What surprised me was how bad he was. He was messing up really easy shots like basic bunker shots, short putts, knocking 40 foot putts 15 feet past the hole, messing up chips, and missing greens with wedge shots. Amazing that he played so well the year before. Lehman played awful but still won comfortably. Faldo didn't do himself a favour with his demenour and interview after. came across a right plonker.

So, I'm fairly confident in saying I'm now in possession of one of Sir Faldo's former weapons. Thought a few might be interested..... It's a Nike wedge that appears to be from the period Faldo was with them though it looks nothing like the retail Nike wedges of the time (I own a few of them) but it looks suspiciously similar to the Faldo Mizuno wedges in terms of head shape, offset and grind. The N.F. stamped on the blade was a slight clue too. As you'd expect from a Faldo club it's also 1 inch long, slightly upright and fitted with a midsize Lamkin crossline half cord grip. All this for the slight sum of £17.50 inc postage, bargain!
