I just played my first 18 of the month and I have to say, this shaft delivered as promised. The rome 888 is the best shaft I have hit in a 3 wood to date and that includees: Fubuki K, GD Tour AD DI, Crazy FW80, Aldila Tour Green, Project X, and a few others. I missed 3 fairways, not by much, and put it on average 270 yards down the fairway (not my normal course so I may be mis-estimating). I played this 3Deep head previously with the Aldila Tour Green and it had a draw that could turn into a hook. The fade bias Rome straightened out the ball flight of the 3deep, and it just flew straight, with a nice boring trajectory. I have never hit a club as straight as I hit this combination.
Awesome feedback. Just curious about your thoughts on the flex of Veylix shafts and how they compared to the other brands you've tried? Basically, does a Veylix Stiff or X-flex feel about the same as Aldila or Fubuki Stiff or X-flex? Thanks!
In general, I find the Fubuki shafts play on the soft side of the flex, so I have an X flex in that shaft. Aldila Tour Green plays true to flex. The nice thing about Veylix is that my club fitter is able to call the company and request a specific cpm, as there is always a range from shaft to shaft. So he requested a "stiffer" stiff flex shaft for me, or Tour Stiff, if you want to think of it that way.
Actually, I put you in a soft X. The difference with how a shaft plays is in the profile. You say the fubuki plays soft, yet it is much stiffer in the butt section than the Rome. The Tour Green is just stiffer in the mid and tip, section than the Fubuki, so it will feel different.

So I have played a Veylix Alpina in the past with my SLDR 430 and really liked the shaft. I was looking for a new shaft for my X Hot Pro 3Deep, as my Aldila Tour Green broke. I tried a few different ones (Chrome 8F4T, UST Mamiya VTS 80 stiff, and the Veylix Rome 888 stiff), with my club fitter, and they all were pretty good. I was swinging pretty well for me, and the Rome was the last shaft. It felt really smooth, but so did the others. What was really interesting, was how the dispersion tightened up immediately. Except for a block and a duck hook, I hit about 15 shots within about 10 yards of each other. This is something new for me. The ball flight was very straight for me. I usually play a draw, that can easily turn into a block or a hook, but this shaft hit a very straight shot. Off the tee, this is exactly what i am looking for. Hit them on flightscope and the numbers as I remember them were: Swing speed-99, Ball speed- 147, Smash- 1.49, Launch angle- 12 degrees, Total yards- 252 yards, Spin-2200 rpm. He set the ground to a medium setting. These numbers were actually quite similar between all the shafts, but this was the only shaft with such a tight dispersion. I can't wait for the weather to clear up here so I can see if this holds up on the course. My 3 wood swing speed is typically around 102 mph, so hopefully age isn't catching up to me and I can regain my speed in the season. If I can put this 260 in the fairway, I may leave my driver at home.

The Rome series has a fade bias which is probably correcting your tendency to over draw.
The shaft has a fade bias? How is that possible?
I really don't know anything about building shafts but all of the Veylix shafts have a certain bias to them.

Alpina- Straight Bias
Rome - Fade Bias
Roughneck - draw Bias

I will assume that the Arcane falls into the straight bias as well, but I've never asked. You can try to inbox JC Beeson. He is the designer of Veylix shafts. Maybe he can give an explanation.

Right? Also, it was my understanding that shafts can be aligned, but not to cause a bias. I'm no rules official, however. Either way, it looks nasty.

I got out to play with the veylix shafts today... Finally! On course results where these are the straightest shafts I've ever hit! The ball just seemed to stay in the air forever! It was wet out so not much roll out but I was at places on the course or past where I usually am in dry summer conditions. I am blown away by the feel of the Rome shaft! Smooth and so powerful! Amazing shafts!!!

I just got done hitting the Rome 688x up against the tour ad bb 6x. WOW!!!! Veylix is got some good stuff! Brief summary. 688 was consistently 10 yards longer and 400 less rpms. Feel and launch angle the same. The real test will be on the course next week. I can't wait! Initial results are looking really good!
Any difference on dispersion?

I have a BB 7x to test against my rogue 125 and oban white, but the veylix 688x is next on my list. (I do wish they would come out with a veylix 788)
The Rome 888 plays at 82gr. I too wish they had one in the low 70's. They just released a lighter version, the Rome 588 - Rome light. The Roughneck kind of falls into that gap between the 688 and 888. Might be a goof choice for a fairway as well.

Although the Agera is not technically a Veylix shaft, but it's made by them and designed to be similar to the Rome (albeit a bit lower spin) but in the low 70g weight range...http://xphlexxx.com/store.html

Xphlexxx Agera fits right in there as most are 74-75g's. I'm loving mine and have the Rome 888 in my 3 wood.

Just got two Agera shafts...one for the driver and a slightly heavier one for the 3 wood...how cool is it they'll hand select weight and CPM preference...?? Right!!

Seems like a great club you had going. What made you let go of the Rome 888?

Really sad to see that in 2 years since this post, I can't hit a 3 wood that far anymore. I am hitting 260 yards when I strike it well; hard to fight the aging process.
