Average 150 Club?

If I were to name only one club I'd say it's my 7 iron. Realistically it is anywhere from 6-8 iron depending on a whole host of things, but relatively level shot with no wind I'm hitting 7 most times.

I'm almost 65 and it takes a flushed 7 iron ( Ping G ) to carry the ball 150. I usually use a 6 iron to be safe.

I will likely be hitting 8-iron this summer at elevation (5000 ft). Swing has improved and new sticks are working well. Will hit 7-iron on the coast.

8 iron assuming it's a center pin. If I need to be sure of the carry I'd choke down on a 7. 2011 TM MC with S300, Pro V something balls (I change between V1 and V1x depending on what I haven't lost that day)

When I was a young man, it was a 42° 8 iron. Today it's a 33° 7 iron on a weak day or a 37° 8 iron when I'm feeling strong (i.e, when my lower back is limber)

Being an average Joe thread I giggled my way through most of these posts. I play mostly with average joes. Rarely are any longer than me (some are very similar). It's a 7 all day long in perfect conditions. I have played with not so average joes and yes they are hitting more lofted clubs. They are very low caps and NOT average joes

7 iron goes 155 but I have old school lofts and my irons are short half an inch. So I guess a modern 8 iron would go the same distance. Driver ss 106.

One set of clubs I have is 33.5* with a 6 stamped on it. The other is 34* with an 8 stamped on it. Thats what I pull with 150 to go with a straight approach to a central pin location or a driving range stake marked 150. The real question is whether or not it will make it there efficiently enough to not mess around with my scorecard wrecker, the putter, more than twice.

Didn't know that Lubbock is that high in elevation. I guess when I think of Texas I think of sea level.
