I'm getting there might be a little wind...? But the bigger question, is why are there so many DQs? The wind can't cause that can it?

So in total I see 11 DQs and 10 WDs.... that's 21 guys who were either forced out or quit. There has to be something nutty going on here and I'm surprised there's no news on this. If it was something out of the ordinary, you'd think Golf Channel would have it covered.

There were weather issues, which led to incomplete Friday rounds and early Saturday starts for those left on the course.

All of the 'DQs' still had holes remaining and were projected to miss the cut by some, to not a chance in hell.

If you don't come back the next day and just hit the road instead of formally WDing, I guess a DQ is how you are marked down.

Well that makes sense but seems a little unprofessional for professionals to behave in that manner.

That seems perfectly reasonable, but for the golf channel to not be reporting on this is absurd. The GC had plenty of coverage of the harsh winds in the Bahamas earlier in the web.com season and this sounds worse than that.

So again, what the hell is going on in South Africa?

If you are not injured - you can not just withdraw as the Physio/Dr will examine you.

But if you have shot a high number the only way to get out of the event is to sign for an incorrect score. So sign for 83 but your score card shows 84, hand it in and walk off, then be told you have been dq'd.

I am now on a Thursday night flight home.

i don't think so pal, unless this is a rule specific to the sunshine tour. hell, Rory withdrew with a "toothache" a few years ago at the Honda or Doral

On the LPGA tour if you shot over 84 three times in a season they give you a warning as not competitive.

Remember Wie said she had injuries to withdraw, stopping after 9/13 holes as she was on for 84 so she would have been banned for some events.

That event in SA, Sunshine Tour operate a similar ruling that if you are not competitive you lose somd events. So those guy that all withdrew didn't want their 85 scores lodged in their record. So if you shot ovet 85, they bring in you and ask what's going on. So players get DQ instead of a withdrew, as if you withdraw to much also that gets looked at.

That may all be true but that is not what happened in South Africa. I emailed them and asked and the response was what I posted earlier in the thread and duffer before me.

They were DQd for not returning to finish their second round after the weather delay.
