I would not mind getting in, not a bad drive from South of Des Moines. I am finally done coaching LL Baseball, have more time this year for stuff like this, plus we are determined to get out a bit more this season.

Will keep an eye on this.

I'd be interested as well. I can help setting things up at Shoal Creek if that end up being the place. Whatever I can do to help.

I've never played Shoal Creek, but have heard it's a great course. I'm open to playing wherever, and what the consensus of the group ends up being. I'm thinking May is a good time frame to look at if that works for everyone else.

Just wanted to get in so I can follow any updates. I have never played Shoal, but have always heard good things.

I haven't played Shoal but have heard good things.

I'm a fan of Falcon Lakes, and I don't think they would mind having us back.

April weather is always dicey, maybe May would be best.

If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, feel free to throw them out there.

I've played every course on the list except for Staley.

My thoughts on each and a relative ranking of the 6 I've played.

Falcon Lakes: Played it the most out of the bunch. It's a nice open track that is susceptible to good scoring, but a couple odd/unadventurous holes knocks it down the list. #5/6

Swope: Fun course that is relatively short and relies on target golf more than the rest of them. Also has the most elevation changes of the bunch, but no range (although a sister range is nearby at Heart of America). Great views of downtown, but condition can be spotty. #6/6

Shoal Creek: Unequivocally my favorite public course in the city. I don't get the chance to play it that often, but it's a good test from all tees. Good range with a short game practice area (also where Monte held his clinic when i attended a couple years ago). Big greens with small target areas and a good mix of target golf and wide-open-banger holes. #1/6

Staley Farms: N/A

Ironhorse: Great track but I thought it was private? It's been a long time since I played it, but I recall loving the layout and the greens were immaculate. Lots of water in play. Obviously conditions may have changed in the 5ish years since I've played it, but based off of foggy memory it was a winner. #2/6

Winterstone: Also been a long time since I'd played, but it's on the same level for me as Ironhorse. From what I remember a great track on a fairly compact course (translation: I hit a lot of "other" fairways) but tree lined where it should be. Not a bomber of a course, but they do blast Limestone (or at least they did) at 3pm everyday in the active mine beneath the course. Opportunity for sinkholes to open up at any point adds to the adventure. #4/6

Semi-related...I played the course in this link in StL about 6 months before this happened: http://www.stltoday....a28c631e36.html

Stone Canyon: Greg Norman design that, from what I recall, was the Missouri sides answer to what is now Canyon Farms in Lenexa. Great course and a tough test - that from what I've heard has been prone to bouts of awful course conditions. It's a long way from my house, so I've only played it twice. If I could guarantee a course in good condition, this would challenge Shoal. #3/6

I'm in for late May/early June.

Good course review there, although I might knock Ironhorse to the bottom of that list.

Course condition or other? Like I said it's been a long time...maybe 6-7 years.

Staley is also private, so you might as well take it off the list unless someone happens to be a member and can pull some strings.

Staley keeps bouncing back and forth between semi and full private. I've been taking some lessons with instructor there and I could check with him and see if he could pull some strings.

I may have been misinformed too. I was talking to staff of another Great Life course last year and they're the ones that told me it was full private now, but they may just say that to sell memberships.

I've never played Swope, but from the other comments and my prior experiences, I'd probably vote for Shoal or Falcon Lakes.

I do believe they are back to full private currently. I've played Swope a couple times, it's not super long but very narrow and a lot of elevation changes. My vote would be Falcon or Shoal as well just based on feedback/reviews.

Toward the end of last season Shoal started taking trees out to help the greens, and its continued this winter. Last fall the greens were the best I've seen. Hopefully that keeps getting better with the improved air circulation

I have a friend that is a recent member at Staley. If you are a member of GreatLife, you can play unlimited golf Mon-Wed at any of their courses. Thursday-Sun you can play the course you are a member of only.

General public cannot book tee times.

She said it may be possible for a big group...but sounds like Staley is off the table.

I've played Creekmoor 2-3 times, I think it is a really good track.

I'm not available the weekends of May 20 & 27 or June 3 & 10.

For Kansas City area courses, Shoal Creek, Falcon Lakes, or possibly Creekmoor. If we want to expand the area for courses, I'm open to that as well.

I'm updating the initial post with everyone's availability to try and find the best date that works for the majority.

I think Creekmoor is a good test and a fun course, just be aware that rack rate on the weekends are gonna push a C-note

The later part of May would be best for me, the last 2 weeks in April, early May I will be unavailable..won't even be able to play at all.

I can talk to Shoal Creek whenever you guys want to see about a group rate. May even be able to get some extras thrown in depending on the size of the group.

It seems like May is a busy month for everyone so far. Might have to look at June time frame instead.
