Uncut Iron Shaft Pullouts

Quick question in regards to rules 8/9. I bought a set of new iron shafts and installed them in a set of irons but decided after install and before cutting the shafts that I wanted a different set of shafts. Given that I have now pulled the shafts can I list them on the bst? The shafts have been cleaned up (ferrules removed, epoxy sanded off and cleaned out) and clearly show tip prep but would they be in violation of the rules below as they were not butt cut or tip cut as they are .355 taper tip?

8. Pullouts - please remove grip to make sure the shaft is not plugged or extended. Measure accurately. Provide tipping information if known.

9. No selling of new uninstalled shafts. Shaft must be cut, prepped and tipped. Either butt cut or tip cut. Adapters must be installed and shafts cannot be advertised as new.

I asked the same question before, and was told they all needed to be cut down in some way and were not allowed to be raw lengths.

9. No selling of new uninstalled shafts. Shaft must be cut, prepped and tipped. Either butt cut or tip cut. Adapters must be installed and shafts cannot be advertised as new.

If they have been installed in heads, and then removed, by definition they cannot be considered to be a "new uninstalled" shaft, so #9 should not apply. Otherwise, any shaft pulled before it was ever hit would have to be governed by the same rule, and we all know new un-hit shafts are sold every day on the BST. And yes, some of them have been sold straight from the OEM installed in heads, but uncut and without a grip ever being installed.

Your shafts should be considered a "pullout" to which rule #8 applies. Just because you did not finish butt cutting them and putting a grip on does not make them a "new uninstalled" shaft.

Rule #9 (or its predecessors) has always been aimed at preventing the sale of new, uncut, uninstalled shafts that would not be warranted by an OE due to improper installation, warranty violation, undercutting of licensed/official reps, etc.

Of course, that is just my humble opinion.

Holy crap man, you gotta be lawyer to understand the BST rules. It's time for Golfwrx to get rid of the silly "no selling of new shafts" rule. The argument that has been presented in the past, namely that the shaft is not fit to the person, holds no water. We have brand new clubs being sold every day that are not fit to the person, and companies like Golfworks sell new shafts by the thousands. Let the clubmaker type guys that purchase shafts figure out what's best for them. We don't need some nanny oversight on this matter.

I like the rule. Only "used" shafts allowed. I don't want BST to become a space for retailers to dump their new stuff....ever. There are plenty of other websites to find new stuff.

Any pullout, butt cut or not, is a "used" shaft. I don't find it confusing.

Your question was about a set of new shafts where only one had ever been installed. You could sell that one pullout here, but not the new uninstalled shafts.

This question is about an entire set of pullouts. They can be sold here.

As to Nessism's question, Golfworks or Golf Galaxy or wherever buy their shafts from licensed distributors. Prior to your joining the site there was a significant issue of unscrupulous members selling new shafts as though the BST was some sort of black market. It's not, and we work hard that it doesn't become that. eBay and alibaba and a whole host of other places are available for that. I'm not saying that BST is perfect in all ways, but it's also not the Wild West. Not sure what you're talking about with regard to the shaft being fitted - our rules have nothing to do with that.
