How many golf bags do you buy in a year?

Recommended Posts

Up until recently I've bought one bag every 3-5 years, mostly based on the old one wearing out. In the past 4 months, however, I've bought 8 bags... not all for me, but I've definitely bought more bags in the last 4 months than the rest of my life combined. Only one is sitting around unused, and it's for sale... though it's so pretty I won't mind keeping it if I have to. That said, between Delta picking up the tab for one and the profit from flipping one, I'm actually net positive cash flow as well.

1.) C130-S to replace bag damaged by Delta Airlines (even though it was in an SKB hard-side case)

2.) Staff bag from Craig's List that I flipped

3.) Another staff bag from Craig's List that I'm trying to flip but may keep

4.) A cheapo boxed-set stand bag from Goodwill for a friend who still uses a '70s leather carry bag

5.) A lightweight Callaway/Ogio 6" stand bag from Goodwill for a short-set for walking/carrying

6.) A Callaway stand bag from Craig's List for the set I keep at my parents house in KY (previously residing in the airline damaged bag)

7.) A Academy Sports E-300 cart bag because the C-130S didn't sit right on my push-cart (C-130S sold here)

8.) A Nike cart bag from Craig's List for a set I'm putting together for my brother to try to get him playing again

Pretty sure I've already responded... I used to be squarely in the "until it falls apart" camp but in the last 12 months I've bought 2 New bags, about to buy a third, and have bought 4 Goodwill or sub-$20 Craig's List bags. I keep coming across great bags that are functionally worth MUCH more than they're selling for, but I really need to stop. My Goodwill club finds are also a driver for me about to pickup a '17 Ogio Silencer... I have ~$40 in Goodwill finds that will come out to north of $200 in trade value given the current RBG 50% bonus, and the Silencer is the only thing really screaming at me regardless of my current cart bag only being ~3 months old.

I have a ping J bag that's over 10 years old. I have had a couple other bags that stored extra clubs but ended up as donations to friends picking up golf or who needed a stand bag when we wanted to walk instead of ride. I'm looking to replace the J bag and turn it into the club storage bag. However, I don't have the cash (or the need) to buy bags every year (or 5 years).

Sun mountain hybrid bag is my normal bag. Sun mountain zero g for walking that I picked it up for my Scotland trip. Old TM staff bag in basement for extra clubs, a Ogio Chamber and a PING 14 way that both need new homes.

I have used the same Titleist stand bag the last 12 years. The stand doesn't work so it's basically become a cart bag and a bad one at that. I finally bought a SM C130 as I most ride but also bought a SM4.5 4way as I want a stand bag for the range and I plan to start walking a few 9 holes rounds each month as I need some exercise to get back in shape.

My regular bag is a 6 year old sun mountain c130 that is in excellent condition and I have 12 year old sun mountain stand bag that I use for travel. I also won a bridgestone stand bag at a tournament that stores spare clubs.

I'll probably replace the c130 well before it ever wears out as I'm not keen on the 14 way top.

PS your survey needs an option for both stand and cart bag since I bet many own both.

I went through 10 bags or so over the last few years trying to find the perfect bag for all my needs. Every bag seems to have a feature I like but you cant find them all in one bag. I finally settled on the 14way Ping Hoofer. Only complaint is that it shifts/leans when its on the cart. Other than that couldn't ask for much more. Lightweight enough to carry, plenty of pockets, stand bag for the range, 14 way dividers, durable, etc...

I still have a sun mountain 3.5 carry that I really like too. Issues with that are shifts on cart and only a 4-way divider. I like my clubs a little organized. Great bag though...

Bought a Titleist Staff Stand bag in January, fell apart by April. Got some new clubs in June and wanted to grab a Taylormade stand bag, ripped open 2 weeks later. Was refunded for that bag and am done with stand bags. New Taylormade staff bag on the way.

Checks off two things I hate about bags 1. Grip clutter pulling/putting clubs in. 2. Storage. Playing/practicing 5-6 times a week, I need a ton of storage.

I'm in my own world on the course so the dirty looks at the staff bag wont bother me

I've had a Nike stand bag for 9 years and an Ogio cart bag for 8. I still have a Jones stand bag that my grandfather bought me when I was in H.S., 20+ years ago. Can't stomach $200+ for a new one now.

I've had the same bag for several years and the only reason I'm buying new is because it doesn't sit well on my Clicgear. I'll use mine for my spare set and leave them at my brothers house in California for when I visit.
