Any good ways to get the weights out of Scotty putters?

Does anybody know a good way to get the weights out of the Scotty studio select putters? I got multiple putters and wanted to switch weights with two of them. I would prefer not to send it back into Scotty when it seems like something I could easily do myself. Thanks for the help.

take two thin drill bits in theeach of the holes and then one in the middle of them and turn, i would assume this would work, I am sure you can buy a tool on ebay, but i think this should be a solution

There's at least one guy I know that has made his own from bar stock and pins.

Yup... Tried it and it works. Just make sure when using the middle drill bit to make sure you are close to the sole of the putter when you start twisting. You can get to far away and drill bits will bend and round the holes in the weights.

Snap ring ( also called retaining ring) pliers work just fine. They come is a bunch of different pin sizes and you can even buy them with a set of different size pins.

If you don't want to spend that much money, you can get single size ones for less than 4 bucks. I'm not sure if these are the right size but you can find the right sized ones like these (although I like the ones that you can have the pins at right angles better):

I have a set of Channelock ring pliers for their intended use and they worked like a charm. I thought it was comical the first time I saw a tool for those for a hundred bucks.

I used to work in a bike shop, and we had a retaining ring tool that would also work, but looked a little different - they're probably less expensive than the pliers, too. They were v shaped, all one piece, with the teeth or tabs for inserting into the ring sitting at 90* from the main frame. The nice part about these was that once you put them into the holes on the ring, they held themselves in there because they naturally want to return to their open v position. If you have a good bike shop near you, take the putter in, tell them what you want to do and they should be able to get you the tool.

Just use needle-nosed pliers. I've done it. It works beautifully.

 

One caution: put masking tape over the weights first, no matter what method you use. Then poke through the tape to get to the "turning holes" with your tool of choice. You'll avoid scratches this way.

so do you need to add some solvent or solution to the weights when screwing them back? I heard that thay have something on them?

^^^^ Nope. There isnothing on them. No solvent needed.

maybe not solvent but there is epoxy right... wouldn't you reapply the epoxy when reinserting the weights or is it unnecessary
