22-25 putts per round!! UUmmmm.......you sure about this? That would be off the charts spectacular. If this is even close to being the case do not let this putter out of your sight!

Putters are way too individualized to say if one is right for you. If it looks good, rolls the ball in the right direction and you can control the distance then by all means play it.

I have the Odyssey XG 9 and like it (currently I like my Anser 2 better) but it is a toe down putter that I believe works best with a gated swing.

My only gripe is that the putter is too light but lead tape solved that problem for me. The insert on the #9 gives a very soft feel.

I had the same problem also. I had a sbst but its more gated now just because I worked on my stroke for a while. but anyways this putter will actually work fine with SBST and gated. The feel is awesome if you like soft but I think Im probably getting a circa next because well im a putter ho hehe. If I were you I would go to your nearest golf shop take it out putt a few and then buy it. Only thing I dont like is that offcenter hits and center hits are completely different distance control. Hope I could help!

I agree! I still play the same 34.5" White Hot #1 that I have had in my bag for 4 yrs now and I cant let go of it. No matter what new technology comes out, I cant get rid of it. If you try it out against any other putter, and nothing comes close...dont change it. Odysseys are soft thats for sure!!

My advice is to try a bunch of putters and pick the one that you hit the best. It doesn't matter what brand or anything because honestly how can one putter be that much better than another putter. You just need to find one that you feel confident over and make putts with. That being said, I'm still searching for the perfect flatstick. Good luck.

Sub 30 putts is pretty good, imo. The real question is how does the XG9 perform on the longer putts or the 15+ ft curving ones where more feel is needed and no one can answer that except the original poster. No problem with the insert on the shorter ones though. Good luck with it...

I have not unfortunately (I hate Ohios winter) putted outside with it. But I have had many insert putters and in my opinion are awesome for short putts, the long ones are still pretty good but if you want responsiveness go with either a black series i or in my opinion the best one a white hot tour 9 just came out 355 gram headweight and the insert is really responsive. almost as good as a scotty if not better

now if I can find a white hot #8!!! I get the great white hot insert in the blade head!! Best of both worlds. I know I am taking the "odyssey" out of this conversation...but Rife's version of the #9 is, in my opinion, one to look at. I played with it at my local PGA Superstore and the ball response was awesome.

Abaco has the flange alot like the #9

Bimini has no flange.

I just read a pretty cool thread on another site in regards to toe hang and stroke shape. Bottom line: the putter moves the way you move it, not the way it is balanced. Toe hang putters like the #9, Bimini, any 8802 would be fine for SBST as long as you believe it will.

The testers blindfolded a golfer. He used two different putters. A center shafted 2Ball and a heel shafted model. Both were fit for him, same weight, balance point, grip, shaft, etc. The golfer made the exact same stroke with both as tested on a monitor... hmmm.
