Turning a regular length putter into a belly putter?

Has anyone done this?

I've been looking at maybe starting to use a belly putter due to some very poor putting. To put it lightly I have no confidence over any put. I have an original seemore and I was wondering if it would be possible to turn it into a belly putter. Has anyone done anything like this before?

You'll need to add weight to the head or it will feel very, very light. A belly putter head is approximately 380-410g whereas a regular putter tends to be 330-350g. You'll need a lot of lead tape to get the head heavy enough. Other than that, you can add an extension to the current putter shaft or just get a new shaft. IMO it would be worth trying to pick up an inexpensive belly putter to try first rather than trying to create one on your own.

I agree with 307 . Only 2 things that I would add is that by adding an extension the shaft will get whippy creating alot of lag in the shaft due to the additional head weight and the other is the amount of tape build up you will have to do for the difference in the grip size , also adding back weight . For probably the same price as buying an inexpensive belly you could have it reshafted properly and save the pull out in case . Also eye-line has a product that we use on Tour and in our Studio that is an adjustable rod that you use with your regular putter that creates the same type of feel as a belly putter for practice .

Very easy to do if you can find the right shaft. This is why I prefer center shafted putters. Sometimes I switch back and forth between belly and regular, just by changing the shaft. But I also add weight into the shaft. I am in the middle of turning my Sunset Beach into a belly putter. Head is drying and I just need to stop at Home Depot for the weights and find a good grip online. Head weight is very subjective and people can get used to hitting all kinds of different weights as long as the practice with it. I have always used very heavy putters, but I have also practiced with lighter putters and there is just a tempo adjustment that needs to be made. People may think that belly putters are like cheating, but for someone who only is able to get out to play once or twice a month, it helps keep my sanity.

How could I add weight to the shaft? And could I put some other type of weights beside lead tape because my seemore is incredibly light even at 33in so if I did extend it I would have to add a ton of weight, and I'm not really keen on applying and inch of lead tape.

This can be difficult to do depending on the hosel type the putter has, i agree with 307 just pick up at inexpensive one, they can be had for around 50 bucks and see how ya like it
