As someone who owns one of each (and have owned multiple Camerons), I can honestly say neither are better than the other, just different.

Besides, considering the partnership Cameron and Bettinardi had during the 90s, it can be hard to draw meaningful distinctions about who makes the better putter.

I'm just glad we have both of them competing to make great putters. We all benefit from that!

Each side has it's strengths and each has weaknesses.

It completely depends on the style of putter you prefer, the metal you prefer, and the finish you choose.

Please, forgive my ignorance on the partnership, could some one elaborate. I vaguely remember hearing that Bettinardi did milling for other putter companies, but any details would be nice.

They are both good putters. If you want a tour issue/quality putter from each of them, Bettinardi is the clear winner because of price. A New DASS for Bettinardi will cost $850 and a new GSS from Cameron will cost you $4,000 plus. Just my opinion.

I sort of agree with that.

To the OP: Not to criticize you, but I feel like a few of your topics could best be answered by some searching through the forums. You have to jump back several months, if not over a year in some cases.

My opinion...both Scotty Cameron and Robert Bettinardi make incredible putters. To compare the two brings up very minor details.

I'm not really sure what you hope to gain from this topic but I have a question for you....

To you, what makes one putter better than another? Price, marketing, which pros use which brand/style, material, manufacturing process, manufacturing tolerances, finishes, variety...or if you can make more putts with one vs. the other? I'm sure there are more but which of these make a putter 'better' to you?

lol sorry. Kind of just post some topics because well I am too lazy to search. Will stop posting stuff then haha

I don't think anyone meant to discourage you from posting, but some of these topics have been discussed in MANY threads containing MANY pages MANY times, so additional identical topics are a bit unnecessary.

Cheers!

+1

Next post is gonna be asking who forges Tiger's irons..

But to answer, I agree with the previous posts as to both are absolutely top notch. I think both have some really really rare and unique putters. I am liking Bettinardi more than my Camerons due to quality, finish, and less amount of them in circulation.

This is an open forum so anyone has the right to ask a question they they want. Yes, searching does help but archive threads may not invoke participation from new members. Is this an old issue, yes, but this is an issue for some. If scottycameron_freak19 wants to ask the question then he is free to do so. Hopefully the board will answer with their respectful opinions.

I do not see much difference between Cameron and Bettinardi putters, and there is a big reason why (as stated). Bettinardi milled putters for Cameron between 1993 and 1998 so I am certain putter design and manufacturing concepts were passed along. Cameron can create a putter on his own if need be but his business approach works best for Acushnet and Cameron, nothing wrong with it. Bettinardi has other business ventures than putters and CNC mills many items. To me, this is like comparing two different types of Apples that serves different tastes. I will say in general that my favorite Cameron putters were in the era that Bettinardi milled for Cameron. The exceptions are the American Classic VII and Inspired by Brad Faxon. Both these designs were made after 2000 and the AC VII is my favorite Cameron has made and that I had ever owned, gamed,

If anyone chooses either maker they will be assured of owning a very good putter.

I am brand new to this site. I can read through the threads from a year ago but I don't have all the time in the world. I certainly agree this is a debate that cannot be settled but cut the / us new guys some slack.

We are still figuring out how to post / chat / read responses etc. I doubt anyone was intentionally being mean but some responses were a bit crass.

In my opinion putting is all about confidence and the basics. Cover your basics with the SC and bett- what style do you prefer? what and how many variations does each offer? do you like a center shaft? if so I highly recommend the bettinardi BC5 putter it is smooth as can be and dean on so long as you have a pendulum stroke.

The biggest difference I find in the 2 clubs is the facial design. Other than that it's fair to say they are equally well produced putters.

I chose to comment here b/c I am currently struggling to choose between my Cameron X5 and my Bett BC5. I hit them both so well yet one is a plumbers neck and the other a middle shaft requiring a pendulum stroke. My instincts tell me I'm leaning toward the X5 because of the long puts. I may need more practice to get the pendulum stroke down pat on longer rolls. Again, it is a tough choice because I very much like the feel of the Bett Honeycomb face. Cameron finally countered with a solid non insert putter so that is good.

Anyway- hope this helps and keep posting bro.
