and he switched to that putter in '99 for sure, prior to that he used a ping answer 2 for some time in '98 when he went between it and the newport that helped him win the '97 masters; for the record he won 13 majors with that putter, not 14

 

i think he'll keep that putter until he wins 20 majors then retires with the newport 2 he's had for more than a decade...i guess :tongue:

 

K guys i watched all of the coverage and he is using the exact same putter from the link above. He has always used a pingman on his scotty.

I was just messing around. It's pretty well known these days that Tiger uses a Ping grip on a non-ping putter.

I've always thought that there's gotta be more to the Ping grip on it then meets the eye. It's the exact same grip as the Scotty Studio Design grip. I've got both, they are the same in all ways(except lettering). I wonder if a bit of mojo is involved here. ;)

that version in the middle of this thread isn't his main putter- is that the one from cameroncollector? tiger's putter doesn't have his initials on the face, with the vertical "scotty cameron." i never knew he had so much lead tape on the bottom of his putter- wonder how much it weighs.

That is not tigers putter.The one tiger uses does not have red in the titlest lettering and has lead tape on the bottem.

The one right above is a backup putter. The other one pictured is Tiger's putter - photos were taken by Eddie and were originally posted over on The Cameron Collector. It has lead tape on the sole. Nike has made Tiger probably hundreds of putters but he has yet to switch. Every victory Tiger has had as a professional was with a Cameron although he has used several different Camerons.

I meant it the paint in the titlest in the back.Also i realize that tiger has many different putters but that on was just not the one he was using in the last match play tournament.

Tiger switched to this putter just prior to the '99 PGA. That was the first major he won with this gamer. Some accounts have Tiger winning all 14 of his majors with this putter but the '97 Masters was won with a TeI3 Newport (as noted in this thread). Some reporters should do better research. Tiger may say his backup is a Nike putter. Maybe it is, maybe it is really not. Who knows. I am sure that Nike wants him to say this. If something were to happen to this gamer then we would see. I would not be surprised to see a Nike come out but would bet another Cameron putter would be in his bag.

Tiger probably had scotty cameron make for him a special putter with no Titleist "markings" because of his endorsement deal with Nike.

 

I also think Scotty will have a few pieces of Tiger's putter, all with exactly the same specifications, lying around as backups. You never know when he might nick the face or someone stealing Tiger's putter.
